<strong>empower rural communities<\/strong>, scaling proven development models, and strengthening <strong>grassroots institutions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Launched by:<\/strong> It has been launched by the <strong>Government of India, in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was launched during the<strong> IFAD\u2013India Partnership for Rural Prosperity event<\/strong> at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"leftbox-default\"><strong>Aim<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It aimed <strong>at enhancing rural incomes, strengthening resilience, and scaling sustainable livelihood opportunities<\/strong> across the country.\n<ul>\n<li>It also seeks to establish<strong> India as a global knowledge hub in rural development by sharing successful models<\/strong> of inclusive rural finance, cooperative governance, digital agriculture services, and climate-resilient value chains.<\/li>\n<li>Through this initiative<strong>, India aims to strengthen partnerships and exchange best practices with countries<\/strong> across Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong> It is an <strong>eight-year programme <\/strong>for the period<strong> 2026\u20132033.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"leftbox-default\"><strong>Features<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>aligned with the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision<\/strong> and<strong> focuses on two major priorities<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Enhancing the social, economic and climate resilience of rural communities<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening knowledge systems to scale successful development models across India and other countries of the Global South.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It places strong emphasis on <strong>strengthening grassroots institutions<\/strong> such as <strong>Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and cooperatives<\/strong>, which serve as key platforms connecting finance, technology, infrastructure, and markets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India&#8217;s Partnership with IFAD:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>IFAD and <strong>NABARD<\/strong> signed a<strong> strategic partnership agreement<\/strong> to further<strong> strengthen rural finance systems<\/strong> and <strong>support innovation<\/strong> in agricultural and allied sectors.<\/li>\n<li>India\u2019s partnership with IFAD spans nearly five decades, with\u00a0<strong>35 rural development projects<\/strong> implemented across multiple states, supporting millions of rural households and contributing significantly to inclusive growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"leftbox-black\"><strong>About International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 class=\"leftbox-default\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an<strong> international financial institution and a specialized agency of the United Nations.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Establishment:<\/strong> It was <strong>established in 1977<\/strong> and is <strong>one of the major outcomes of the 1974 World Food Conference.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters: It is headquartered in Rome, Italy.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Governing body:<\/strong> Member States govern through the<strong> Governing Council and the Executive Board.<\/strong> These two bodies make all major decisions, including policy, finance and membership.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"leftbox-default\"><strong>Role<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It <strong>invests in rural people<\/strong> by empowering them to reduce poverty, increase food security, improve nutrition and strengthen resilience.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It <strong>provides low-interest loans and grants to developing countries<\/strong> to finance innovative agricultural and rural development programmes and projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coverage:<\/strong> It spans <strong>4 regions and operates in 92 countries.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Report<\/strong>: It<span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0brings out the<strong> Rural Development Report every year.<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"leftbox-default\"><strong>Membership<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Any country <strong>that is a member of the United Nations,<\/strong> its specialised agencies or the International Atomic Energy Agency <strong>can become an IFAD Member State. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It has membership of 180 countries, categorised into <strong>three lists<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Member States on List A<\/strong> are<strong> primarily high-income countries<\/strong> that contribute to IFAD\u2019s resources.<\/li>\n<li>Those on<strong> List B also contribute to IFAD\u2019s resources<\/strong>, with some eligible for IFAD financing and services.<\/li>\n<li>Those on <strong>List C are primarily developing countries<\/strong> that <strong>receive IFAD financing and services, <\/strong>and also contribute to IFAD resources.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India<\/strong> is a<strong> founding member<\/strong> of the
