Weatherdotgov<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thunderstorms<\/strong> are common <strong>weather events<\/strong> that <strong>form when warm moist air rises, cools, and condenses<\/strong> into <strong>towering cumulonimbus clouds.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Formation:<\/strong> According to the National Weather Service, <strong>three conditions must exist together<\/strong> for a thunderstorm to develop:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Moisture<\/strong>: Moisture is <strong>necessary for cloud formation and heavy precipitation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Instability<\/strong>: Warm air near the surface keeps <strong>rising rapidly because it remains warmer than the surrounding upper atmosphere.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Lift<\/strong>: A lifting mechanism such as <strong>solar heating, mountains, or cold and warm fronts<\/strong> pushes the air upward.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Life Cycle:<\/strong> A thunderstorm generally passes through <strong>three stages and usually lasts from 30 minutes to one hour.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Developing Stage:<\/strong> Warm moist <strong>air rises continuously and forms towering cumulus clouds.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong <strong>updrafts dominate this stage<\/strong>, but <strong>rainfall is very limited<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Occasional lightning flashes may occur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mature Stage:<\/strong> Water <strong>droplets become too heavy<\/strong> for the <strong>updrafts to hold, and precipitation begins to fall.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Cool downdrafts spread along the ground and form gust fronts.<\/li>\n<li>This stage is the <strong>most dangerous<\/strong> because it can produce heavy <strong>rain, hail, lightning, strong winds, tornadoes, and frequent thunder.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dissipating Stage:<\/strong> The <strong>cool downdraft weakens<\/strong> the rising warm air and <strong>cuts off the storm\u2019s supply of moisture.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rainfall gradually decreases<\/strong>, although lightning may still remain dangerous until the storm completely ends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Structural Classification:<\/strong> Thunderstorms are classified into <strong>four main types<\/strong> based on their <strong>structure, intensity, and duration.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Single-Cell:<\/strong> These are small and <strong>short-lived storms<\/strong> that generally <strong>last for 20\u201330 minutes<\/strong> and mainly produce <strong>light to moderate rainfall.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Multi-Cell<\/strong>: These storms contain <strong>several storm cells at different stages of development<\/strong>, allowing them to <strong>continue for many hours<\/strong> with heavy rain, gusty winds, and occasional hail.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Squall Line<\/strong>: These storms form <strong>long organized lines<\/strong>, usually <strong>along cold fronts<\/strong>, and produce <strong>strong winds, heavy rainfall, and sometimes tornadoes over large areas.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Supercell<\/strong>: These are the <strong>most severe thunderstorms<\/strong> with a <strong>rotating updraft called a mesocyclone<\/strong>, capable of <strong>producing large hail, destructive winds, flash floods, and tornadoes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: At least 111 people died after a powerful storm and heavy rain hit several districts of Uttar Pradesh recently.
