{"id":36307,"date":"2018-11-02T12:04:19","date_gmt":"2018-11-02T06:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=36307"},"modified":"2018-11-02T12:04:19","modified_gmt":"2018-11-02T06:34:19","slug":"realise-the-de-facto-realities-on-jk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/realise-the-de-facto-realities-on-jk\/","title":{"rendered":"Realise the de facto realities on J&#038;K:\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-opinion\/realise-the-de-facto-realities-on-jk\/article19218391.ece\"><b>Realise the de facto realities on J&amp;K<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>Realizing the realities of Jammu &amp; Kashmir<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Context<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ghulam \u00a0Nabi Azad, a Kashmiri, and a Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, attacked the government for not contesting the American characterization of Kashmir.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mr. Azad called it a \u2018compromise\u2019 as regards national security.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>What led U.S to call it administered Jammu &amp; Kashmir?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Americans were being merely factual.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Salahuddin\u2019s tenure as senior (Hizbul Mujahiddeen) HM leader, HM has claimed the responsibility for several attacks, including the April 2014 explosives attack in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, which injured 17 people.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using the context used by HM, U.S. remained consistent with the reality on the ground.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>The distorted map of Jammu &amp; Kashmir<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fact remains intact that there are areas in Jammu and Kashmir which are in the control of Pakistan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pakistan controls a significant portion of its western and northern parts, some 78,000 sq. km of it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the region, our maps refer to as Jammu and Kashmir, about 37,500 sq. km, comprising the Aksai Chin, is controlled by China.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, some 5,180 sq. km was gifted to China by Pakistan.
