Other producing states include Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Domestic market:\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jaggery sales in domestic markets had<\/span><b> reached approximately 5,000 metric tonnes annually by August 2024, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">indicating growing consumer preference for traditional and natural sweetening products.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Export of Jaggery:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India is one of the<\/span><b> leading exporters of jaggery and confectionery products (including traditional Indian sweets and candies)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By <\/span><b>2024-25<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, its exports increased to <\/span><b>USD 406.8 million<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a volume of <\/span><b>471.9 MT. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a rise of about <\/span><b>106.5% in value<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>61.2% in volume<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over the period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Major export destinations in 2024-25: These include <\/span><b>Indonesia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>U.S.A<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>U.A.E<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, without the use of chemicals.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is often called <strong>\u201cmedicinal sugar\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is widely <\/span><b>consumed across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under various local names.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Use:<\/strong> Jaggery is <\/span><b>widely used in traditional foods, beverages, bakery, and confectionery products.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is valued for<\/span><b> its natural origin, traditional processing methods, and growing consumer preference<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for chemical-free sweeteners.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Popular varieties:<\/strong> They include c<\/span><b>ane jaggery, palmyra jaggery, and raw jaggery.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Nutritional benefits:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jaggery contains o<strong>ver 70% sucrose with small amounts of glucose and fructose.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is<strong> rich in minerals <\/strong>like calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, copper, and style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Khajuri Guda (Odisha):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is a <\/span><b>natural, organic sweetener extracted from date palm trees in the Gajapati district of Odisha,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> historically prepared in a trapezoidal form called <\/span><b><i>Patali Gur<\/i><\/b><b>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Marayoor and Central Travancore jiggery (Keralam):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is premium, chemical-free, traditional jaggery balls produced in the<\/span><b> Marayoor and Kanthalloor regions of the
