{"id":364224,"date":"2026-06-03T15:49:35","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T10:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=364224"},"modified":"2026-06-03T15:49:35","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T10:19:35","slug":"pm-research-chair-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pm-research-chair-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"PM Research Chair Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-box-green\">\n<p><strong>News<\/strong>: The Department of Higher Education has invited applications for the Prime Minister Research Chair (PMRC) Scheme 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\"><strong>About PM Research Chair Scheme<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_364230\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-364230\" style=\"width: 253px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-364230\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Source-NOA.jpg?resize=253%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"PM Research Chair Scheme\" width=\"253\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Source-NOA.jpg?resize=253%2C300&amp;ssl=1 253w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/forumias.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Source-NOA.jpg?w=696&amp;ssl=1 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 253px) 100vw, 253px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-364230\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source &#8211; NOA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prime Minister Research Chair (PMRC) Scheme<\/strong>\u00a0 is a flagship initiative that seeks <strong>to connect global Indian talent with India\u2019s research, development, innovation and technology ecosystem.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Launched by:<\/strong> It has been launched by the<strong> Department of Higher Education <\/strong>under the<strong> Ministry of Education.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Aim<\/strong>: The scheme aims to <strong>attract accomplished Indian-origin researchers, scientists, technologists and professionals from leading global institutions<\/strong> and connect them with India\u2019s rapidly expanding research and innovation ecosystem.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Three-Pillar Structure:<\/strong> The scheme is built around <strong>Lead Institutions, Host Institutions and PMRC Fellows.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Lead Institutions<\/strong>: <strong>Seven lead institutions<\/strong> have been identified, namely IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Hyderabad, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and IISc Bengaluru.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Host Institutions:<\/strong> <strong>Eligible host institutions<\/strong> include government higher educational <strong>institutions ranked among the Top 100 in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Overall or Engineering categories<\/strong> or <strong>Top 50 in the NIRF Research category.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>National laboratories and research institutions<\/strong> under agencies such as <strong>Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)<\/strong> are also eligible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fellows:<\/strong> Accomplished <strong>Indian-origin researchers, scientists, technologists and professionals<\/strong>, including Indian nationals working abroad, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders, and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Selection<\/strong>: The selection process is overseen by an <strong>Empowered Committee chaired by the Principal Scientific Adviser<\/strong> to the Government of India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Priority Research Areas:<\/strong> The scheme <strong>focuses on 13 national priority sectors,<\/strong> including artificial intelligence, quantum computing, semiconductors, cybersecurity, healthcare, biotechnology, climate change, defence and atomic energy.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Research Support:<\/strong>\u00a0Selected fellows will <strong>receive fellowship support<\/strong>, research <strong>grants<\/strong>, <strong>access to laboratories<\/strong> and <strong>advanced research infrastructure.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Department of Higher Education has invited applications for the Prime Minister Research Chair (PMRC) Scheme 2026.
