About\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\nBRICS Indore Declaration is a Farmer-Centric Global Charter<\/strong><\/span> adopted by BRICS member countries <\/b>during the 2026 Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Aim<\/span><\/td>\nIt aims at <\/span>strengthening food security, farmer welfare, climate-resilient agriculture, agricultural trade and digital agriculture.<\/b><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Focus<\/span><\/td>\n It <\/span>records a shared commitment to advance food security, nutrition, livelihoods, agricultural trade, innovation, investment, climate-resilient farming, and sustainable agricultural development <\/b>with the farmer at its centre.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Priorities of the Declaration<\/span><\/td>\nThe declaration has adopted four main priorities:<\/b><\/p>\n
    \n
  1. Food security and nutritional security<\/strong> for BRICS countries and the world.<\/li>\n
  2. Promotion of agricultural trade and cooperation<\/strong> among BRICS nations.<\/li>\n
  3. Regenerative, climate-resilient and sustainable farming practices<\/strong> in response to climate change.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Strengthening innovation, technology and partnerships<\/strong> in food systems and agriculture.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Institutional initiatives<\/span><\/td>\nFour institutional initiatives<\/strong> have also been proposed. It includes:<\/span><\/p>\n
    \n
  1. Centres of Excellence on Agro-Ecology and Regenerative Agriculture: <\/b>Their establishment will <\/span>create a platform for collaborative research, exchange of experiences, and capacity building<\/b> in natural, organic, and regenerative farming practices.<\/span>\n
      \n
    1. It will <\/span>enable member countries to learn from one another\u2019s best practices<\/b> and promote climate-resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. In India, <\/span>the Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research (IIFSR), Modipuram, <\/b>has been designated as a Centre of Excellence for natural farming under this network<\/strong>. The institute will contribute to joint research, knowledge exchange, and training activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    3. BRICS Network on Digital Agriculture:<\/b>\n
        \n
      1. It aimed at strengthening cooperation in artificial intelligence, geospatial technologies, digital public infrastructure, and data-driven agricultural solutions.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
      2. In India, IIT Delhi will serve as the coordinating institution for this network.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      3. Global Forum on Farmers\u2019 Rights in Seed Systems:<\/strong> Creation of the Global Forum on Farmers\u2019 Rights in Seed Systems will focus on safeguarding farmers\u2019 seed rights, <\/strong>preserving indigenous seed diversity, and protecting traditional knowledge.<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. BRICS AgriN (Agro Input, Genetic Resources and Information Network):<\/b>\n
          \n
        1. It seeks to enhance collaboration among member countries<\/strong> in the areas of agricultural inputs, seeds, and genetic resources.<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. It will facilitate information sharing, capacity building, technical cooperation, and partnerships<\/strong>, enabling countries to exchange knowledge on superior crop varieties, genetic resources, and agricultural inputs and develop practical solutions to common challenges.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
