WB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Development Policy Financing (DPF)<\/strong> is a<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/world-bank\/\"> World Bank<\/a> lending instrument<\/strong> that provides <strong>credits, loans, grants or guarantees to a borrowing country<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Created in:<\/strong> It was created in<strong> 2004<\/strong> by merging <strong>Sectoral Adjustment Loans (SECALS) and Structural Adjustment Loans (SALs).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> It aims to<strong> help the borrower achieve sustainable poverty reduction<\/strong> through a program of policy and institutional actions.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>For example,<\/strong> strengthening public financial management, improving the investment climate, addressing bottlenecks to improve service delivery, and diversifying the economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It can be<strong> extended as loans, credits, or grants.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It provides<strong> rapidly disbursing financing<\/strong> to help a borrower address actual or anticipated development financing requirements.<\/li>\n<li>It<strong> supports targeted policy reforms and provides finance directly to a borrowing country\u2019s<\/strong> general budget.<\/li>\n<li>Funds are made available to the client based on:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Maintenance of an adequate macroeconomic policy framework,<\/strong> as determined by the Bank with inputs from IMF assessments;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Satisfactory implementation of the overall reform program;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Completion of a set of critical policy<\/strong> and institutional actions agreed between the Bank and the client; and<\/li>\n<li>Alignment of the DPF program with the Goals of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/the-paris-agreement-and-climate-challenges-explained-pointwise\/\">Paris Agreement<\/a>,<\/strong> as determined by the Bank.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>About DPF Operation in the context of India:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>World Bank has approved<strong> $1.5 billion <\/strong>in<strong> financing to support India\u2019s structural reform<\/strong>s under the <strong>Boosting Job Creation in the Private Sector Development Policy Financing (DPF) Operation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The operation is <strong>built on many structural reforms<\/strong> undertaken, including <strong>tax simplification, trade integration, and legislative and regulatory reforms<\/strong> to improve ease of living and the ease of doing business.<\/li>\n<li>The DPF is <strong>aligned with the World Bank Group\u2019s Country Partnership Framework (CPF)<\/strong> for India for <strong>FY26-31.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It supports India\u2019s reforms in <strong>three critical areas<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Enhancing the <strong>business-enabling environment<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Advancing <strong>trade and investment openness<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n<li>Mobilizing private capital for <strong>firm expansion and job creation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It also supports<strong> tax and regulatory reforms<\/strong> that reduce barriers to entrepreneurship,<strong> updates to the labour laws<\/strong> to make it easier for women to participate in formal employment, <strong>measures to streamline trade and investment regimes,<\/strong> and <strong>steps to facilitate capital mobilization.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The World Bank\u2019s Board of Executive Directors approved $1.5 billion in financing to support India\u2019s structural reforms to boost private sector-led job creation and economic growth under the Boosting Job Creation in the Private Sector Development Policy Financing (DPF) Operation.
