toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong> related to maternal and newborn health.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Objective:<\/strong> The framework seeks <strong>to reduce the Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) to below 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It also aims to<strong> lower neonatal and infant mortality rates and advance the goal of zero preventable maternal and newborn deaths.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Developed by:<\/strong> It has been developed by the<strong> Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is spearheaded by the <strong>Maternal Health Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/rmncahn-strategy-under-national-health-mission\/\"> RMNCHA+N framework.<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Focus area:<\/strong> It focuses on <strong>130 districts across 13 high-focus states,<\/strong> including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Assam and West Bengal.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Customised Interventions:<\/strong> It introduces<strong> customised and evidence-based interventions<\/strong> tailored<strong> to the needs of individual states and districts<\/strong>, particularly in high-burden regions.\n<ul>\n<li>For the identified high-focus States, <strong>the Roadmap proposes a comprehensive package of interventions, including the SUMAN Package<\/strong> for Pregnant Women to promote early registration, complete antenatal care, quality clinical assessment and adequate post-partum institutional stay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Life-Cycle Approach:<\/strong> It adopts a <strong>life-cycle approach to maternal and newborn care,<\/strong> integrating services from pre-pregnancy and antenatal care to childbirth and postnatal support.<\/li>\n<li><strong>High-Risk Pregnancy Management:<\/strong> It places special emphasis <strong>on identifying and managing high-risk pregnancies through a structured four-stage framework<\/strong> covering antenatal, third-trimester, intrapartum and postnatal risk management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strengthened Outreach and Support: Key interventions include<\/strong><strong>\u00a0bi-weekly ASHA home visits during the final months of pregnancy,<\/strong> strengthened referral transport systems, and financial support for designated postnatal caregivers.\n<ul>\n<li>Additionally,<strong> healthcare infrastructure has been enhanced through Birth Waiting Homes,<\/strong> Maternal and Child Health Wings, High Dependency Units, and Intensive Care Units in underserved areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The Roadmap proposes <strong>Centres of Excellence, a centralized SUMAN Call Centre for grievance redressal and digital monitoring through the <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/janani-platform\/\">JANANI Portal<\/a><\/strong> to ensure effective implementation and sustained outcomes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community participation<\/strong>: It also promotes community participation through initiatives such as <strong>SUMAN Panchayats, aimed at ensuring universal antenatal care, institutional deliveries, full immunisation and accountability at the local level.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Additional measures: <\/strong>It includes <strong>nutrition interventions, pre-pregnancy folic acid supplementation, AI-enabled labour rooms, enhanced maternal death reviews<\/strong> and climate-responsive healthcare planning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">About Operational Guidelines on National Ambulance Services (NAS), 2026<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About:<\/strong> The Operational Guidelines on National Ambulance Services (NAS), 2026, <strong>is a landmark framework intended to standardise emergency medical transport services<\/strong> across the country.\n<ul>\n<li>The guidelines<strong> establish uniform national standards<\/strong> for ambulance deployment, staffing, equipment, training and service quality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Aim:<\/strong> They aim <strong>to strengthen pre-hospital emergency care by ensuring timely patient stabilisation, transport<\/strong> and referral to appropriate healthcare facilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features: <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A key feature of the framework is<strong> the establishment of Integrated Command and Dispatch Centres (ICDCs) equipped with GPS-based ambulance tracking,<\/strong> structured triage systems, real-time monitoring dashboards and advanced call management systems.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The NAS framework<strong> mandates compliance with AIS-125 standards for ambulance safety and quality<\/strong><strong>\u00a0and promotes the scientific deployment of ambulances<\/strong> based on factors such as population density, accident hotspots, traffic conditions,\u00a0and geographical accessibility.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It also <strong>envisions GIS-enabled mapping of hospitals, ambulance bases, critical care facilities and high-risk zones<\/strong>, enabling dispatch teams to identify the most suitable healthcare facility for patients in
