{"id":366708,"date":"2026-07-04T16:28:22","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T10:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=366708"},"modified":"2026-07-04T16:28:22","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T10:58:22","slug":"pashujanya-yudh-abhyas-pya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pashujanya-yudh-abhyas-pya\/","title":{"rendered":"Pashujanya Yudh Abhyas (PYA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-box-green\">\n<p><strong>News:\u00a0<\/strong>The Department of Animal Husbandry &amp; Dairying (DAHD), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry &amp; Dairying, successfully conducted\u00a0Pashujanya Yudh Abhyas (PYA).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"Titleh2\" class=\"red-h2-box\">About Pashujanya Yudh Abhyas (PYA)<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 309px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.psa.gov.in\/CMS\/web\/sites\/default\/files\/onehealth\/National%20%20One%20Health%20mission%20logo_0.png?resize=309%2C298&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"National One Health Mission\" width=\"309\" height=\"298\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Principal Scientific Adviser<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>Pashujanya Yudh Abhyas (PYA) is the <strong>third national-level mock drill<\/strong> under the <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/one-health-approach-significance-and-steps-taken-by-india\/\"><strong>National One Health Mission <\/strong><\/a><strong>to strengthen India&#8217;s p<\/strong><strong>reparedness for animal health emergencies and zoonotic disease outbreaks.<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/one-health-approach-significance-and-steps-taken-by-india\/\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> It aimed <strong>to test and validate the country\u2019s preparedness, coordination mechanisms, and emergency response capabilities<\/strong> for managing animal health emergencies arising from zoonotic disease outbreaks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conducted by:<\/strong> It has been conducted by the\u00a0 <strong>Department of Animal Husbandry &amp; Dairying (DAHD), Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry &amp; Dairying.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong> It is a <strong>5-day-long\u00a0exercise<\/strong> held at <strong>Khari village, Vidisha District, Madhya Pradesh, from 29<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0June to 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\u00a0July 2026.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Participants:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It involved the<strong> Department of Animal Husbandry &amp; Dairying (DAHD), ICAR, NCDC, ICMR, the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor, laboratories under the National BSL-3 Network and the <\/strong><strong>Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&amp;CC).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It also included State and District Animal Husbandry, Health, and Forest Departments, and the administration of Madhya Pradesh.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It brought together stakeholders from the <strong>animal health, human health, wildlife, food safety, laboratory and district administration<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It was designed <strong>to assess operational readiness, intersectoral coordination and communication, and mechanisms<\/strong> for managing a zoonotic disease outbreak from first alert to containment.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1dimtek\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"123\">The exercise simulated an <strong data-start=\"28\" data-end=\"70\">Influenza A (H1N1) outbreak in animals<\/strong> with the potential to spread to humans and wildlife.
