
{"id":366983,"date":"2026-07-08T17:12:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T11:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=366983"},"modified":"2026-07-08T17:12:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T11:42:51","slug":"char-kaman-and-charminar-complex","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/char-kaman-and-charminar-complex\/","title":{"rendered":"Char Kaman and Charminar Complex"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-box-green\">\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong> The <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Government of Telangana<\/span><\/span> has announced a restoration project of Char Kaman which is historically part of Charminar Complex.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\">About Char Kaman and Charminar Complex<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 177px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cdn.s3waas.gov.in\/s36c524f9d5d7027454a783c841250ba71\/uploads\/2022\/03\/2022031080.jpg?resize=177%2C285&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Char Kaman and Charminar Complex\" width=\"177\" height=\"285\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: Telangana Gov<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Build by: <\/strong>The Charminar was built<strong> between 1589 and 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah,<\/strong> the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty.<\/li>\n<li>It is a<strong> square shaped structure with four pillars, one on each side and intricate carvings. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Architecture<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Inspired by:<\/strong> The architectural design of Charminar i<strong>s inspired from the Shia \u201ctazias\u201d.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Material used:<\/strong> It has been built with granite and lime mortar.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Four Pillars:<\/strong> The four pillars around Charminar represent the four caliphs.\u00a0 These pillars or minars are 48.7 meters high.\n<ul>\n<li>These are<strong> four stories, with each floor divided by intricately carved rings<\/strong> that surround it.<\/li>\n<li>On the top floor of<strong> Chaminar there is a mosque<\/strong> which is <strong>believed to be the oldest mosque of Hyderabad city. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Attached to these is the<strong> open space which can be used to accommodate more people on occasions like Friday prayers or festivals.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Design:<\/strong> The Char Kaman feature <strong>distinctive Qutb Shahi architectural motifs,<\/strong> with pillars crafted to resemble lotus leaves.<\/li>\n<li>In the year of 1889,<strong> four clocks were also added on all the four sides of the structure.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>About Char Kaman: <\/strong>The <strong>four ornamental gateways<\/strong> that lead to the Charminar, called the <strong>Char Kaman.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"no_first_intro_para\">It was <strong>built around 1594.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"no_first_intro_para\"><strong>Architecture:<\/strong> The <strong>four arches had different name<\/strong>s: The arches <strong data-start=\"306\" data-end=\"375\">Machli Kaman, Kali Kaman, Sher-e-Batil Kaman, and Charminar Kaman <\/strong>mark the four entrances to the historic city surrounding <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Charminar<\/span><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Signficance:<\/strong> The arches <strong>marked th<\/strong>e<strong> entrances to the city of Hyderabad<\/strong>.\u00a0 The adjoining outhouses were used as a sitting place for the nobles and officials.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Government of Telangana has announced a restoration project of Char Kaman which is historically part of Charminar Complex.
