DoE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>UDISE+ 2025-26<\/strong> report <strong>presents the status of school education in India<\/strong> and <strong>provides data<\/strong> on teachers, enrolment, retention, infrastructure, and other key school education indicators.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Released by:\u00a0<\/strong> It is released by the <strong>Union Ministry of Education.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Highlights:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Increase in Teachers:<\/strong> The number of teachers <strong>increased by 8.3% compared to 2022-23<\/strong>, improving teacher availability.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Improved Pupil-Teacher Ratio (PTR):<\/strong> The PTR <strong>improved to 10, 12, 17, and 21 at the foundational, preparatory, middle, and secondary levels respectively<\/strong>, which is better than the <strong>NEP recommended ratio of 30:1.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Better Student Retention and Lower Dropouts<\/strong>: <strong data-start=\"1932\" data-end=\"1963\">Between 2024-25 and 2025-26<\/strong>, dropout rates declined to <strong data-start=\"1991\" data-end=\"1999\">1.8%<\/strong> at the preparatory level and <strong data-start=\"2029\" data-end=\"2037\">7.0%<\/strong> at the secondary level, while retention improved at the middle and secondary stages.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Higher Enrolment and Transition:<\/strong> The secondary Gross Enrolment Ratio (<strong>GER) increased from 68.5% to 71.7%<\/strong>, and transition rates improved across all major stages of schooling.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fewer Single-Teacher and Zero-Enrolment Schools:<\/strong> <strong>Single-teacher schools declined by around 3%<\/strong>, while <strong>zero-enrolment schools reduced by around 29%.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Improved Digital and Basic Infrastructure:<\/strong> <strong>Schools with computer access (69.9%), internet connectivity (67.4%),<\/strong> and basic infrastructure such as electricity, drinking water, toilets, handwashing facilities, libraries, and ramps with handrails recorded improvements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Greater Female Representation<\/strong>: <strong>Women formed 54.9% of the teaching workforce<\/strong>, while <strong>girls&#8217; enrolment increased to 48.4% in 2025-26.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\">About Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>UDISE+ is an <strong>educational management information system<\/strong> under the <strong>Department of School Education &amp; Literacy, Ministry of Education.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Central Data Platform<\/strong>: It enables recognised schools <strong>to record and submit real-time data on infrastructure, students, and teachers from pre-primary to higher secondary levels.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Validated Information:<\/strong> The submitted <strong>data is verified by officials at block, district, state, and national levels<\/strong> to ensure credible information.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Unique School Identification:<\/strong> Every onboarded school receives a unique <strong>11-digit UDISE code and login credentials for real-time data entry and modification.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Integrated Modules:<\/strong> UDISE+ <strong>manages school profile and facilities, student records<\/strong> through the <strong>Permanent Education Number,<\/strong> and individual teacher and non-teaching staff profiles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:\u00a0The Union Ministry of Education released the Report on Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) 2025-26on school education in India.
