PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Launched in: <\/strong>The<strong> Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED)<\/strong>\u00a0was launched in <strong>February 2022<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implemented by:<\/strong> It is implemented by the <strong>Ministry of Social Justice &amp; Empowerment<\/strong> through the <strong>Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Partner Agencies:<\/strong> <strong>National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation<\/strong> (NBCFDC), <strong>National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation<\/strong> (NSFDC), and Non-Government Organizations are the partner agencies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong>\u00a0It <strong>aims<\/strong> to provide <strong>educational support, health insurance, livelihood opportunities and housing<\/strong> assistance for DNT, NT and SNT communities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Core Pillars:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Educational Empowerment:<\/strong> It provides <strong>free coaching and financial assistance<\/strong> to support admission and employment opportunities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Health:<\/strong>\u00a0It <strong>distributes Ayushman Cards<\/strong> and provides <strong>health insurance through PMJAY.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Livelihood:<\/strong>\u00a0It promotes <strong>income generation by forming Self Help Groups in DNT clusters.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Land and Housing:<\/strong>\u00a0It <strong>facilitates housing support<\/strong> under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and other government schemes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\">About De-Notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Historical Background:<\/strong>\u00a0During the British rule, many communities were notified as &#8220;<strong>born criminals<\/strong>&#8221; under the <strong>Criminal Tribes Act, 1871<\/strong>, and all <strong>members had to register with local magistrates.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>After Independence, <strong>this Act was repealed in 1952,<\/strong> and these communities became <strong>known as De-Notified Tribes (DNTs).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Socio-economic Status:<\/strong> <strong>Nomadic and semi-nomadic communities<\/strong> are those who <strong>move from one place to another<\/strong> instead of living permanently in one place.\n<ul>\n<li>Historically, these <strong>communities had no access to private land or home ownership.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Status in India:<\/strong> Around <strong>10% of India&#8217;s population belongs to DNT communities.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>As per the report of the <strong>National Commission for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, 1,235 communities<\/strong> have been <strong>identified as DNTs across the country.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Institutional Support:<\/strong> The <strong>National Commission for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes (Idate Commission<\/strong>) recommended measures for the development of these communities.\n<ul>\n<li>Based on its recommendations, the <strong>Government constituted the Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) in 2019 <\/strong>to formulate and implement welfare and development programmes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News:\u00a0The Ministry of Social Justice &amp;
