IGU<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>World LNG Report<\/strong>\u00a0is an <strong>annual report<\/strong> published <strong>by the International Gas Union (IGU)<\/strong> that presents <strong>global trends, trade, investment, capacity and future outlook of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) sector.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Findings of 2026 Report<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>India:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Global Ranking:<\/strong>\u00a0India <strong>added 52.5 mtpa of regasification capacity<\/strong> across eight terminals and <strong>became the fourth largest regasification market in 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Terminal Development:<\/strong> India <strong>commissioned the Chhara LNG terminal<\/strong> and <strong>expanded the Dabhol LNG terminal<\/strong>, increasing its <strong>capacity from 2.9 mtpa to 5 mtpa with year-round operations.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Infrastructure Expansion:<\/strong> India has <strong>four LNG projects under construction<\/strong>, which are <strong>expected to add 11.3 mtpaof regasification capacity by 2028.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Demand Outlook:<\/strong> The <strong>International Energy Agency projected<\/strong> that India&#8217;s natural gas <strong>consumption will increase by nearly 60% by 2030<\/strong> due to city gas distribution, industrial demand and power generation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Capacity Utilisation:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>India&#8217;s LNG regasification utilisation declined from 58% in 2024 to about 47% in 2025<\/strong> because of weaker summer LNG imports and increased infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Global Finding:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Record LNG Trade:<\/strong>\u00a0Global LNG trade reached a <strong>record 437 million tonnes in 2025, increasing by 6.3%,<\/strong> which was the strongest growth since 2022.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Top Exporters:<\/strong>\u00a0The <strong>United States<\/strong> remained the <strong>world&#8217;s largest LNG exporter with 110.7 million tonnes<\/strong>, followed by <strong>Qatar<\/strong> (81.5 million tonnes) and <strong>Australia<\/strong> (80.3 million tonnes).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Top Importer:<\/strong> <strong>China remained the world&#8217;s largest LNG importer<\/strong> with 69.8 million tonnes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 100%;
