The dominant tree species include<strong> Hodgson&#8217;s magnolia, Ceylon ironwood and elephant apple.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is an important area for mammals like <strong>Indian Elephant<\/strong>, <strong>Bengal tiger<\/strong>, <strong>Slow Loris, Capped Langur, <a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/the-malayan-giant-squirrel\/\">Malayan Giant Squirrel<\/a>, white-winged duck, hog deer, and Chinese pangolin.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It also provides habitat for critically endangered species, including the<strong> black softshell turtle and red-necked vulture.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">This area is also <strong>recognised as an Important Bird Area in 1994 and a Key Biodiversity Area in 2004.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Serious allegations of illegal encroachment, extensive tree felling, and attacks on forest personnel, including incidents of gunfire, have emerged from Behali Wildlife Sanctuary.
