font-size: 16px; font-weight: 700; margin: 0px; text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 0px rgb(10, 10, 10);\">Ministry of Agriculture &amp; Farmers Welfare.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> It aims to \u201c<strong>reach the unreached<\/strong>\u201d by extending the benefits of mechanization to underserved sections.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Beneficiary targeted:<\/strong> It includes <strong>small and marginal farmers, including women, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and rural entrepreneurs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding pattern:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>For most states,<strong> the funding pattern is 60:40, while for North-Eastern and Himalayan states, it is 90:10. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In the case of Union Territories, <strong>assistance is provided as 100 percent Central funding.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus:<\/strong> It is designed t<strong>o promote inclusive and efficient farm mechanization<\/strong> by improving access to modern agricultural equipment, reducing drudgery, and enhancing farm productivity.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization:<\/strong> Supports training, testing, demonstrations, and post-harvest mechanization to improve farm productivity, processing, storage, value addition, and crop residue management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Financial Assistance for Agricultural Machinery:<\/strong> Provides subsidies through <strong>DBT\u201440% for general farmers and 50% for SC\/ST, small and marginal farmers, and beneficiaries in North-Eastern states.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Small and marginal farmers also receive <strong>\u20b92,000 per hectare<\/strong> for mechanized services, including <strong>drones, through CHCs, SHGs, and FPOs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Farm Machinery Banks (FMBs) and Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs):<\/strong> Supports SHGs, FPOs, and local institutions with <strong>80\u201390% assistance<\/strong> for FMBs (up to \u20b930 lakh) and <strong>40% assistance<\/strong> for CHCs (up to \u20b9250 lakh) to improve access to farm machinery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hi-Tech Equipment Hubs:<\/strong> Establishes centres with advanced, high-capacity machinery for crop-specific operations and improved access to modern equipment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mechanization in the North Eastern Region:<\/strong> Provides region-specific support, including <strong>up to 100% subsidy<\/strong> for small machinery and <strong>95% assistance<\/strong> for Farm Machinery Banks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The scheme promotes the establishment of <strong>Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs).\u00a0<\/strong>These are units comprising<strong> a set of farm machinery, implements, and equipment meant for hiring by farmers. <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It also supports the <strong>development of hubs for hi-tech and high-value agricultural equipment<\/strong>, and the distribution of farm machinery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It also undertakes a<strong>wareness generation through demonstrations and capacity-building initiatives.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Its crucial focus is<strong> on regions with low farm power availability and on addressing structural constraints<\/strong> such as small landholdings and high capital costs through affordable rental services via CHCs.<\/li>\n<li>It also supports <strong>the performance testing and certification of agricultural machinery.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Targeted Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities<\/strong> are undertaken to enhance adoption among stakeholders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scheme coverage:\u00a0<\/strong>The number of beneficiaries for individual farm machinery ownership <strong>increased from 2.07 lakh in 2020\u201321 to 2.32 lakh in 2024\u201325.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Impact: <\/strong>Under SMAM, from 2014\u201315 to 2025\u201326, central assistance of\u00a0\u20b99,404.47 crore\u00a0has supported th<strong>e distribution of\u00a021.61 lakh\u00a0machines to individual farmers.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Additionally, <strong>it supported the establishment of\u00a027,554 Custom Hiring Centers,646 Hi-tech Hubs, and 25,608 Farm Machinery Banks. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM) has significantly advanced inclusive farm mechanization, enhanced agricultural productivity, and promoted the adoption of modern technologies across India.
