
{"id":367310,"date":"2026-07-13T16:25:21","date_gmt":"2026-07-13T10:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=367310"},"modified":"2026-07-13T16:25:21","modified_gmt":"2026-07-13T10:55:21","slug":"international-physics-olympiad-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/international-physics-olympiad-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"International Physics Olympiad 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-box-green\">\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong> India&#8217;s young physicists have brought immense pride to the nation by delivering an extraordinary performance at the\u00a056th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\">About International Physics Olympiad 2026<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 364px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/static.pib.gov.in\/WriteReadData\/userfiles\/image\/image001H59D.jpg?resize=364%2C205&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"International Physics Olympiad 2026\" width=\"364\" height=\"205\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an<strong> annual competition<\/strong> that brings together<strong> some of the brightest high school students from around the world. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Selection process: <\/strong><\/strong>Participants are <strong>tested through theoretical and experimental examinations<\/strong> that assess their understanding of physics, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.<\/li>\n<li><strong>About the International Physics Olympiad 2026:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This is the <strong>56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Held at:<\/strong> It was held in <strong>Bucaramanga, Colombia.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Participants:<\/strong> It saw participation from\u00a0<strong data-end=\"663\" data-start=\"621\">381 students representing 87 countries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>India&#8217;s participation and winners:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>This was <strong>India&#8217;s 27th participation<\/strong> in the International Physics Olympiad.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Coordinating agency from India: <\/strong>The Indian team was selected and trained under the <strong>National Olympiad Programme<\/strong> conducted by <strong>Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE),<\/strong> \u00a0a National Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE).\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>centre selects talented pre-university students<\/strong> through <strong>several stages and provides them with intensive training before international competitions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nodal Department from India:<\/strong> The <strong>Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)<\/strong> is the nodal department.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Winners: <\/strong><strong>5 Indian students<\/strong> have won <strong>gold medals<\/strong> at the International Physics Olympiad 2026.
