traditions<\/strong> across the world.\n<ul>\n<li>It is also known as the <strong>Amchi System of medicine and Tibetan medicine.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"color-text-a\"><strong>Terminology:<\/strong> The term Sowa-Rigpa means <strong>Knowledge of Healing. <\/strong>It derives its meaning from the <strong>Bhoti Language. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Origin:<\/strong> The Buddha is said to be the originator of this Tibetan system of medicine.<\/li>\n<li class=\"color-text-a\"><strong>Practised in:<\/strong> This system was reinforced in the <strong>Trans-Himalayan region<\/strong> and is popular in <strong>Himalayan societies such as Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh (Spiti and Lahoul), Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal (Darjeeling), Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is practised in<strong> some parts of China, the Himalayan regions of India, Mongolia, Nepal, Russia, and Bhutan.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"color-text-a\">More than 75 percent of the Sowa-Rigpa tests<strong> have been derived from the Ashtanga Hridaya. <\/strong>It is\u00a0a famous exposition of Ayurveda.<\/li>\n<li class=\"color-text-a\"><strong>Medicine used:<\/strong> Many<strong> medicines of Indian origin,<\/strong> such as<strong> Ashwagandha, Guggulu, Triphala, Ashok, Haridra, etc<\/strong>., are<strong> used in the Sowa-Rigpa system for treatment purposes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li class=\"color-text-a\"><strong>Literature:<\/strong> <strong>Gyud-Zi or the Four Tantras<\/strong>\u00a0was the<strong> fundamental textbook<\/strong> of this form of medicine.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recognition:<\/strong> Recognised under <strong>India\u2019s Ayush framework,<\/strong> it has evolved over centuries across the Trans-Himalayan region and remains an important repository of traditional medical knowledge.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa<\/strong> is the country\u2019s <strong>apex institution for education, research and healthcare in the Sowa-Rigpa system.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2
