Context: <\/strong>India is undergoing a rapid demographic transition, with the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) declining from around 3.3 in the 2000s to 1.9<\/strong>, below the replacement level of 2.1. This is accompanied by a shift towards smaller and nuclear households.<\/p>\n

Impact on Consumption and Energy Demand<\/strong><\/h2>\n

  1. Household fragmentation:<\/strong> Smaller families reduce economies of scale and increase the number of independent households, thereby raising per-capita consumption.<\/li>\n
