PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM)<\/strong>\u00a0promotes <strong>tribal livelihoods<\/strong> by supporting the <strong>processing, value addition and marketing of Minor Forest Produce (MFP)<\/strong> and other <strong>tribal products.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Origin:<\/strong> It was <strong>launched in 2021-22.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Merger of Earlier Schemes:<\/strong> PMJVM was formulated by <strong>merging two earlier schemes for tribal livelihood promotion.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>These were the <strong>\u201cMechanism for Marketing of Minor Forest Produce (MFP) through Minimum Support Price (MSP) and Development of Value Chain for MFP\u201d<\/strong> and <strong>\u201cInstitutional Support for Development and Marketing of Tribal Products\/Produce.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nodal Ministry:<\/strong>\u00a0Ministry of Tribal Affairs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementing Agency:<\/strong> The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India <strong>(TRIFED)<\/strong> is the nodal implementing agency for PMJVM.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding:<\/strong> The Mission includes <strong>two major financial support components<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Equity Support:<\/strong> The Ministry of Tribal Affairs releases funds as <strong>Equity Share Capital<\/strong> assistance to the <strong>National and State Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporations,<\/strong> which provide concessional loans to eligible Scheduled Tribe members.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Venture Capital Fund:<\/strong> Approved in 2021-22, the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Tribes <strong>promotes entrepreneurship, provides concessional finance<\/strong> and <strong>supports the incubation of start-up ideas by Scheduled Tribe youth.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>managed <\/strong>by Industrial Finance Corporation of India Venture Capital Funds Limited<strong> (IFCI VCF Ltd.)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Components of the Mission<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVK):<\/strong> A group of around <strong>15 Self-Help Groups, <\/strong>comprising about 300 tribals, forms one VDVK<strong>,<\/strong> with <strong>at least 60% of its members <\/strong>belonging to <strong>Scheduled Tribe <\/strong>communities<strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Skill and Infrastructure Support:<\/strong> Tribal gatherers <strong>receive training<\/strong> in <strong>scientific harvesting, processing and value addition,<\/strong> along with <strong>processing equipment, storage and transportation support.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Market and Business Support:<\/strong> VDVKs receive<strong> market linkages<\/strong>, while<strong> TRIFED provides information <\/strong>on daily rates and e-commerce opportunities and supports branding and promotion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Haat Bazaars:<\/strong> VDVKs are established around <strong>local Haat Bazaars<\/strong>, which are important procurement points.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Women Empowerment:<\/strong> The VDVK model <strong>supports women\u2019s economic empowerment<\/strong> by enabling their <strong>participation in the collection, processing<\/strong> and <strong>sale of forest produce<\/strong>, as well as in <strong>community enterprises.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The government is strengthening the forest-based tribal economy through PMJVM by promoting value addition and market access.
