MoD<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"97\" data-end=\"268\"><strong>Positive Indigenisation List (PIL)<\/strong>\u00a0is a <strong>list of defence items<\/strong> that, <strong>after a specified deadline, must be procured from domestic sources<\/strong> instead of being imported.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Notified by:<\/strong> The <strong>Ministry of Defence (MoD) notifies<\/strong> the Positive Indigenisation Lists.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implemented by:<\/strong> The <strong>Department of Defence Production (DDP) and the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) <\/strong>under the Ministry of Defence implement the Positive Indigenisation Lists.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promulgated in:<\/strong> It was <strong>promulgated in August 2020.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Legal Basis:<\/strong> The concept was <strong>introduced under the Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Operationalized through:<\/strong> It is <strong>hosted and operationalized through the SRIJAN Defence Portal.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> It <strong>aims<\/strong> to<strong> reduce import dependence<\/strong>, promote domestic defence manufacturing, encourage indigenisation, and strengthen self-reliance under the <strong>Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timelines:<\/strong> Each notified item <strong>has a cut-off timeline<\/strong>, <strong>after which its import is prohibited<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>This <strong>provides the domestic industry time to develop<\/strong> and test the required products.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Department of Military Affairs (DMA) Lists:<\/strong> These lists cover major end-user weapon platforms, such as artillery guns, corvettes, radars and transport aircraft.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Department of Defence Production (DDP) Lists:<\/strong> These lists focus on sub-assemblies, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), high-precision sensors, ammunition types and specialised raw materials for Defence Public Sector Undertakings and Coast Guard assets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation through \u2018Make\u2019 Categories:<\/strong> The <strong>Defence Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020 provides three categories<\/strong> to promote indigenous defence production.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make-I:<\/strong> <strong>Indian industry<\/strong> develops the product or prototype with <strong>financial support from the government.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Make-II:<\/strong> <strong>Indian industry<\/strong> develops the product or prototype <strong>at its own cost.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Make-III:<\/strong> Defence equipment is <strong>manufactured in India with foreign collaboration<\/strong> or Transfer of Technology to reduce imports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"yellow-h2-box\">About the 6th Positive Indigenisation List<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Coverage:<\/strong> It <strong>includes 405 items,<\/strong> comprising <strong>16 Indian Coast Guard items<\/strong> and <strong>389 Defence Public Sector Undertaking items<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Items included: <\/strong>The list covers <strong>Line Replaceable Units, sub-systems, sub-assemblies, spares, components and raw materials.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Business potential: <\/strong>The items have an estimated <strong>business potential of \u20b93,070 crore.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Defence Ministry has notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List, comprising 405 strategically important items.
