{"id":370389,"date":"2026-08-26T15:38:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T10:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=370389"},"modified":"2026-08-26T15:38:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T10:08:22","slug":"information-technology-resilience-index-itri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/information-technology-resilience-index-itri\/","title":{"rendered":"Information Technology Resilience Index (ITRI)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-box-green\">\n<p><b>News:<\/b> SEBI has introduced an Information Technology Resilience Index (ITRI) for market infrastructure institutions (MIIs).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\"><b>About Information Technology Resilience Index (ITRI)<\/b><\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 339px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ-JdXdCaFvWOrm2ituLdElhm42ary7fUXDxe5bdtMZjQ&amp;s=10\" alt=\"IT Resilience Index (ITRI)\" width=\"339\" height=\"339\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: SEBI<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Introduced by: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi)<\/strong> has introduced an <strong>IT Resilience Index (ITRI)<\/strong> framework<strong> for market infrastructure institutions (MIIs),<\/strong> including stock exchanges, depositories and clearing corporations.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Purpose:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It has been introduced <strong>to monitor the robustness and resilience of their critical IT systems<\/strong> and strengthen the continuity of securities market operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Aim: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is aimed<strong> at strengthening oversight of the resilience of IT systems and identifying emerging weaknesses<\/strong> at an early stage, so that timely corrective measures can be taken.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Frequency of Computation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MIIs will <strong>compute the index on a half-yearly basis within 60 days of the end of each half-year<\/strong> and submit a comparative analysis of two consecutive half-years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Role of Industry Standards Forum:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Industry Standards Forum will<strong> formulate baseline parameters, acceptable threshold scores and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)<\/strong> for calculating the ITRI, along with an objective, system-driven scoring methodology.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Weightage of Parameters:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Under the framework, <strong>the ITRI will be computed using a uniform set of nine parameters,<\/strong> each carrying a specific weightage to ensure comparability across MIIs.<\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Availability and security<\/strong> will carry the<strong> highest weightage of 20 per cent<\/strong> each, followed by<strong> integrity, governance, reliability and monitoring, business continuity,<\/strong> and <strong>modularity and flexibility at 10 per cent each.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Scalability and other aspects,<\/strong> including incident handling, <strong>will account for the remaining 5 per cent each.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MIIs will also <strong>develop an Early Warning System (EWS) to detect any deterioration<\/strong> in ITRI parameters that could potentially lead to performance issues, system slowness or other disruptions, and take remedial measures.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Implementation and Monitoring:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 The beta version of the <strong>ITRI framework has already been implemented and will operationalize<\/strong> it along with the <strong>EWS and real-time monitoring of service delivery by February 28, 2027.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>First ITRI Computation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <strong>first ITRI computation<\/strong> under the framework will cover the<strong> half-year ended March 31, 2027.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: SEBI has introduced an Information Technology Resilience Index (ITRI) for market infrastructure institutions (MIIs).
