It reaches its greatest strength and may create a visible trail and waves on the water.<\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"641\" data-end=\"651\">Decay:<\/strong> The waterspout weakens and disappears as the flow of warm air into the vortex decreases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Characteristics<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>They have the<strong> same characteristics as a land tornado.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is generally<strong> less intense and usually lasts about five minutes. I<\/strong>t can sometimes<strong> continue for up to 10 minutes.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>An average waterspout is approximately<strong> 165 feet in diameter<\/strong> and can have wind speeds of <strong>around 100 kilometres per hour.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>They<strong> typically form when humidity levels are high<\/strong> and<strong> the water is relatively warm compared with the cooler air<\/strong> above it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Waterspouts were recently spotted over the Brahmaputra River in Assam&#8217;s Barpeta.
