He is from <strong>Singapore.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">He is an <strong>Ambassador-at-large<\/strong> who has held this position at <strong>Singapore&#8217;s Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1990.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">He played an important role in the talks that<strong> led to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, or UNCLOS.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">He has also been<strong> involved in education, public policy, the arts and civic institutions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\"><strong>Runa Khan-<\/strong> She is<strong> social entrepreneur<\/strong> and from<strong> Bangladesh.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">She founded a Bangladeshi <strong>non-governmental organisation (NGO) called Friendship<\/strong> which works mainly with people living in some of Bangladesh&#8217;s hardest-to-reach areas, known as char communities.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">\u00a0She took the<strong> initiative to establish Friendship in Luxembourg<\/strong> in 2006, <strong>Netherlands<\/strong> in 2007, the <strong>UK<\/strong> in 2010, <strong>France<\/strong> in 2015, and <strong>Belgium<\/strong> in 2018.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\"><strong>Bo Kyi-<\/strong> He is<strong> human rights activist<\/strong> from<strong> Myanmar.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">He has <strong>spent years working for the rights of political prisoners<\/strong> in Myanmar.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">He was<strong> imprisoned twice<\/strong> and spent a total of seven years behind bars.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"557\" data-end=\"735\">In 2000, he<strong> co-founded the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP)<\/strong> which helps political prisoners and their families and records cases of human rights abuses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Singaporean diplomat and legal scholar Tommy Koh, Bangladeshi social entrepreneur Runa Khan and Myanmar human rights activist Bo Kyi have been named the winners of the 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Award.
