{"id":370860,"date":"2026-09-02T15:35:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T10:05:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=370860"},"modified":"2026-09-02T15:35:52","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T10:05:52","slug":"sardar-patel-national-unity-award-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/sardar-patel-national-unity-award-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Sardar Patel National Unity Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-box-green\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>News:<\/strong> Seven years after being instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the inaugural Sardar Patel National Unity Award is set to be announced on October 31 this year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">About Sardar Patel National Unity Award<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 317px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/images.indianexpress.com\/2026\/08\/P1-medal-2col.jpg?resize=317%2C226&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Sardar Patel National Unity Award\" width=\"317\" height=\"226\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: IE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sardar Patel National Unity Award<\/strong> is an award to <strong>recognize citizens, institutions and organisations<\/strong> that have made <strong>exceptional contributions towards promoting India\u2019s unity and integrity.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Instituted Year: <\/strong>It has been instituted in the name of<strong> Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel <\/strong>in <strong>September 2019.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It will be <strong>considered<\/strong> the<strong> highest civilian award in India<\/strong> in the <strong>field of contribution to the unity and integrity of India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Frequency of award:<\/strong> It will be announced<strong> annually<\/strong> on the occasion of the <strong>National Unity Day<\/strong> which is the<strong> birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 31st October.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong> The candidate <strong>\u201cshould have made outstanding efforts and notable contribution<\/strong> to promote and further <strong>the cause of national unity and integrity in a manner<\/strong> that may serve as an inspiration to others, and reinforce the value of a strong and united India\u201d.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Award Committee:<\/strong> An award committee would be <strong>constituted by the Prime Minister<\/strong> which would include <strong>members<\/strong>&#8211;<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cabinet Secretary<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Principal Secretary to the PM<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Secretary to the President<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Home Secretary<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Three-four eminent persons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Conferred by:<\/strong> It is conferred by<strong> President of India.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Prizes:<\/strong> The award is set to <strong>comprise a medal and a citation,<\/strong> but <strong>no monetary grant or cash award would be attached to it.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>medal<\/strong> will be in the form of a<strong> lotus leaf, made of gold and silver,<\/strong> with <strong>Patel\u2019s portrait embossed on one side<\/strong> and th<strong>e national emblem on the other.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It <strong>would not be conferred posthumously,<\/strong> except in very <strong>rare and highly deserving cases.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Further,<strong> not more than three Awards would be given in a year.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>About Sardar Patel National Unity Award 2026:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first <strong>Sardar Patel National Unity Award<\/strong> is set to be announced on <strong>October 31<\/strong> this year.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It will be<strong> considered equivalent to the Padma Vibhushan.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">There may be<strong> two or three recipients this time.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Seven years after being instituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the inaugural Sardar Patel National Unity Award is set to be announced on October 31 this year.
