World Nomad Games<\/strong> are being held from <strong>August 31 to September 6 in Kyrgyzstan.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Origin:<\/strong> The Games were conceived following the <strong>Bishkek Declaration signed in 2012<\/strong> by<strong> Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkey at the Summit of the Heads of Turkic States. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>First edition:<\/strong> The <strong>first<\/strong> World Nomad Games were held in <strong>Cholpon-Ata<\/strong> in <strong>2014<\/strong>, bringing together athletes from<strong> 19 countries <\/strong>in competitions based on<strong> traditional sports.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Its subsequent editions took place in<strong> 2016 and 2018 in Kyrgyzstan, 2022 in Iznik, Turkey, and 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It celebrates the <strong>ancestral sports, traditions, and civilisational heritage of nomadic peoples<\/strong> rather than standard Olympic disciplines.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It brings together countries based on <strong>a shared historical and nomadic background.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">It also seeks <strong>to revive endangered indigenous knowledge and practices threatened<\/strong> by modern, sedentary lifestyles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong data-start=\"256\" data-end=\"281\">2026 Edition:<\/strong> The 2026 edition features a <strong>wide-ranging sports<\/strong> programme <strong>comprising 43 disciplines, including traditional wrestling forms such as Goresh, Kurash and Mongol Bokh, along with Kok Boru, Kekpar, equestrian events, Toguz Kargool, Mangala, Oware, Chuko, Ordo, tug of war and strongman competitions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"17qy00g\" data-start=\"829\" data-end=\"997\"><strong data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"854\">Cultural programme:<\/strong> The Games also include <strong>UNESCO-recognized<\/strong> cultural events such as <strong data-start=\"920\" data-end=\"996\">Echo of Nomads, Nomad Fest, Heritage of Nomads, Art Lab and Ethno-Bazaar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1dqym6q\" data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1166\"><strong data-start=\"1001\" data-end=\"1023\">Science programme:<\/strong> Experts are discussing <strong data-start=\"1047\" data-end=\"1115\">nomadic heritage, traditional knowledge and cultural cooperation<\/strong> through international conferences and discussions.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1dqym6q\" data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1166\"><strong data-start=\"43\" data-end=\"79\">India\u2019s largest-ever contingent:<\/strong> The Indian contingent this year comprises 87 members, including <strong>73 athletes<\/strong>, 10 cultural representatives and four participants in the scientific programme.\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"mnkxav\" data-start=\"470\" data-end=\"537\">India has sent a <strong data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"536\">10-member Belt Wrestling team from Nagaland<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"dkjvvo\" data-start=\"540\" data-end=\"627\">Indian athletes are also taking part in <strong data-start=\"582\" data-end=\"616\">Kurash, Goresh and Mongol Bokh<\/strong> wrestling.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"15vgl69\" data-start=\"630\" data-end=\"714\">They are participating in <strong data-start=\"658\" data-end=\"679\">equestrian events<\/strong> such as <strong data-start=\"688\" data-end=\"713\">Kok Boru and Er Enish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"xukj0o\" data-start=\"717\" data-end=\"827\">Other events include <strong data-start=\"740\" data-end=\"751\">archery<\/strong> and traditional
