{"id":371642,"date":"2026-09-12T15:02:31","date_gmt":"2026-09-12T09:32:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/?p=371642"},"modified":"2026-09-12T15:02:31","modified_gmt":"2026-09-12T09:32:31","slug":"exercise-samudra-laksamana-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/exercise-samudra-laksamana-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercise Samudra Laksamana"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content-box-green\">\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong> INS Mysore arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, to take part in the fourth edition of the bilateral naval exercise Samudra Laksamana alongside the Royal Malaysian Navy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\">About Exercise Samudra Laksamana<\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 335px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTm-AIugXQo222pvmiyZtk4CbLwGot-PlYjuiuoKbAOerl1hkE7FWFxMXyL&amp;s=10\" alt=\"Exercise Samudra Laksamana\" width=\"335\" height=\"251\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: PIB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Exercise Samudra Laksamana<\/strong> is a <strong>bilateral Naval exercise<\/strong> between<strong> India and Malaysia, <\/strong>contributing<strong> to maritime cooperation and interoperability.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>2026 Host:<\/strong> It commenced on <strong>September 9, 2026, at the Lumut Naval Base, Malaysia.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Edition:<\/strong> It is the<strong> 4th edition of the exercise<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>The<strong> first edition<\/strong> of the exercise took place in <strong>2019.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> The joint exercise is aimed<strong> at strengthening bonds and enhancing <\/strong><strong>interoperability between the two navies.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Contingents:<\/strong> The exercise involves the <strong>Indian Navy and Royal Malaysian Navy.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Indian Participant:<\/strong> <strong>INS Mysore<\/strong> (a Delhi-class guided-missile destroyer)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Malaysian Participants:<\/strong> Royal Malaysian Navy ships KD Lekir and KD Gagah Samudera.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It comprises <strong>professional engagements in harbour and at sea,<\/strong> including cross-deck visits, operational interactions and sporting engagements.<\/li>\n<li>These activities<strong> will provide opportunities for personnel of both navies<\/strong> to exchange professional experiences, enhance interoperability and foster greater mutual understanding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; border-style: solid;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\" style=\"text-align: center;\">About INS Mysore<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>INS Mysore (D60)<\/strong> is a<strong> Delhi-class guided missile destroyer<\/strong> of the Indian Navy.<\/li>\n<li>It was built at <strong>Mazagon Dock Limited in Mumbai.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was<strong> commissioned in 1999.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is<strong> designed for multi-role naval operations<\/strong>, including air defence, anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and fleet escort missions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Engine:<\/strong> It is powered by a <strong>gas turbine linked to marine diesel engines.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Gas turbines<\/strong> are used <strong>to provide the extra thrust,<\/strong> while <strong>diesel engines<\/strong> provide the <strong>required cruising power.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Speed:<\/strong> It has a speed of <strong>32 knots and a range of 5,000 miles.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Size:<\/strong> Its length is<strong> 535 feet<\/strong> and has a displacement of 6,835 tons.<\/li>\n<li>It has <strong>two medium helicopters and their crews<\/strong>, supported by a hangar and helipad at the stern.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>equipped with state-of-the-art radar, communications, and sensor equipment<\/strong>, as well as a hull-mounted variable depth sonar system.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Weapons<\/strong> include a <strong>mix of rocket and projectile-guided weapons.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: INS Mysore arrived at Lumut, Malaysia, to take part in the fourth edition of the bilateral naval exercise Samudra Laksamana alongside the Royal Malaysian Navy.
