These egg cells were <strong>collected<\/strong> from selected <strong>genetically valuable Badri donor cows<\/strong> through <strong data-start=\"181\" data-end=\"215\">ultrasound-guided ovum pick-up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fertilisation:<\/strong> They were <strong>matured and fertilised in vitro<\/strong> using semen from a <strong>genetically superior Badri bull<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Embryo culture:<\/strong> Embryos were <strong>cultured under controlled laboratory conditions<\/strong> and <strong>transferred into synchronized recipient cows.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Embryo transfer:<\/strong> One Badri embryo was <strong>transferred into a Sahiwal cow, which gave birth to the calf.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\">About Badri Cattle<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Naming :<\/strong> The breed <strong>derived its name from Badrinath.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It was <strong>earlier known as the \u2018pahadi\u2019 cow.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Habitat:<\/strong> It is adapted to the <strong>Himalayan environment<\/strong> and feeds on <strong>herbs and shrubs available in the mountains.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution:<\/strong> It is found <strong>only in the hill districts of Uttarakhand.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Physical Features:<\/strong> It is <strong>small in size, has long legs<\/strong> and has <strong>black, brown, red, white or grey body colours.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Milk Quality:<\/strong> Its milk has <strong>rich medicinal content<\/strong> and <strong>high organic value due to its feeding on herbs and shrubs.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Disease Resistance:<\/strong> It is comparatively <strong>more resistant to diseases, mostly due to its eating habits.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Local Adaptation:<\/strong> It is <strong>adapted to hill terrain and local<\/strong> environmental conditions and is <strong>suitable for low-input farming systems.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Threats:<\/strong> Indigenous cattle <strong>breeds face pressure from cross-breeding and shrinking herd sizes across India.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Status:<\/strong> Badri is the <strong>first certified cattle breed of Uttarakhand.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It was <strong>included as the Badri breed by the National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: A healthy Badri female calf was born through OPU-IVF after a Badri embryo was transferred into a Sahiwal recipient cow.
