His famous line \u201cSinhasan khali karo ke janta aati hai\u201d became a popular slogan. He also criticised <strong data-start=\"865\" data-end=\"899\">caste and class discrimination<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1kyzavj\" data-start=\"939\" data-end=\"1110\">His first major poetic work, <strong data-start=\"970\" data-end=\"996\">Vijay Sandesh (1928)<\/strong>, was based on the\u00a0 <strong data-start=\"668\" data-end=\"705\">Bardoli Satyagraha <\/strong><strong data-start=\"1015\" data-end=\"1071\">led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong data-start=\"215\" data-end=\"255\">1935, his poetry collection Renuka<\/strong> was published, and a copy was presented to <strong data-start=\"299\" data-end=\"317\">Mahatma Gandhi<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"3o65ad\" data-start=\"319\" data-end=\"475\">His poetry was not only <strong data-start=\"345\" data-end=\"362\">nationalistic<\/strong> but also explored important issues such as <strong data-start=\"406\" data-end=\"474\">violence vs. non-violence, war vs. peace, injustice and morality<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>His famous work <strong data-start=\"494\" data-end=\"518\">Kurukshetra (1946)<\/strong> questioned the idea of <strong data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"604\">non-violence in a world filled with violence and injustice<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"12uo3xu\" data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1266\">His other notable works include <strong data-start=\"1139\" data-end=\"1194\">Urvashi, Dhoop Chhah, Saamdheni, Baapu, Mitti ki Or<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"1201\" data-end=\"1226\">Krishna Ki Chaetavani<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1ey9q1v\" data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"760\">After Independence, Dinkar continued to question <strong data-start=\"657\" data-end=\"696\">poverty, injustice and exploitation<\/strong> in Indian society and wrote <strong data-start=\"725\" data-end=\"743\">social satires<\/strong> on these issues.\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"l4q65d\" data-start=\"761\" data-end=\"964\">In <strong data-start=\"767\" data-end=\"796\">Sanskriti ke Chaar Adhyay (Four Chapters of Indian Culture)<\/strong>, he studied the development of <strong data-start=\"829\" data-end=\"847\">Indian culture<\/strong> through major historical influences, including the <strong data-start=\"899\" data-end=\"963\">Aryans, Buddhism and Jainism, Islam and European colonialism<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-section-id=\"1elq2lo\" data-start=\"965\" data-end=\"1049\"><strong>Recognition:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li data-section-id=\"ytj58d\" data-start=\"1267\" data-end=\"1410\">He received the <strong data-start=\"1285\" data-end=\"1336\">Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi Award in 1959<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1345\" data-end=\"1371\">Jnanpith Award in 1972<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"17xinrr\" data-start=\"1411\" data-end=\"1559\">He became a <strong data-start=\"1425\" data-end=\"1455\">Rajya Sabha member in 1952<\/strong> and later served as <strong data-start=\"1476\" data-end=\"1520\">Hindi Adviser to the Government of India<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"pjpflp\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"132\">A <strong data-start=\"4\" data-end=\"34\">commemorative postal stamp<\/strong> featuring Dinkar was released in <strong data-start=\"68\" data-end=\"76\">1999<\/strong> to honour his contribution to India\u2019s freedom struggle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-section-id=\"49vacf\" data-start=\"1363\" data-end=\"1409\" data-is-last-node=\"\"><strong>Legacy:<\/strong> He passed away in <strong data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1408\">1974 at the age of 66.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tributes to the National Poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar on his birth anniversary.
