border-style: solid;\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 11.8501%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>Phase<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 17.5333%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>Duration<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 70.4958%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>Specific Features<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 11.8501%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>GEC Phase-I<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 17.5333%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>Launched in 2015\u201316<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 70.4958%;\" valign=\"middle\">\n<ul>\n<li>It <strong>Covered 8 renewable-rich states<\/strong> (Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Rajasthan.)and targeted <strong>evacuation of about 24 GW of renewable energy.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 11.8501%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>GEC Phase-II<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 17.5333%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>FY 2021\u201322 to FY 2025\u201326<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 70.4958%;\" valign=\"middle\">\n<ul>\n<li>It <strong>covers 7 states<\/strong> ( Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh) and <strong>facilitates grid integration and power evacuation of approximately 20 GW of Renewable Energy. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>provides 33% Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for the project cost.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 11.8501%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>GEC Phase-III<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 17.5333%;\" valign=\"middle\"><strong>Targeted for FY 2032\u201333<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 70.4958%;\" valign=\"middle\">\n<ul>\n<li>It strengthens the <strong>Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS)<\/strong> to enable <strong>evacuation of up to 135 GW of Renewable Energy. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>For the <strong>first time<\/strong> under the Green Energy Corridor programme, it <strong>includes 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to improve grid flexibility.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Key Features of GEC Phase-III<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Total Project Outlay:<\/strong> It has a <strong>total project outlay of \u20b91,86,405 crore<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It including \u20b91,36,378 crore for <strong>Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS)<\/strong> and \u20b950,000 <strong>crore for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Central Financial Assistance:<\/strong> It provides <strong>\u20b954,082 crore as Central Financial Assistance (CFA)<\/strong> to offset intra-state transmission charges and keep power costs down.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Project Implementation:<\/strong> Greenfield projects will follow <strong>Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB)<\/strong>, while <strong>brownfield upgradation and network strengthening<\/strong> will <strong>follow Cost Plus Basis (CPB).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation Agencies:<\/strong> <strong>State Transmission Utilities will be the overall implementing agencies<\/strong>, while <strong>Transmission Service Providers<\/strong> will participate <strong>through a Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) model.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Long-term Benefits:<\/strong> The scheme <strong>will support 900 GW installed non-fossil capacity by 2035<\/strong>, strengthen energy security and promote sustainable growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The Union Cabinet approved GEC Phase-III on September 30 to enable evacuation of up to 135 GW of renewable energy across States and Union Territories.
