justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Desert National Park (DNP)<\/strong> is located in the <\/span><b>Thar Desert across Jaisalmer and Barmer districts, Rajasthan.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is one of the <\/span><b>largest national parks in the country.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the only place in Rajasthan where the <\/span><b>state bird (<a href=\"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/the-great-indian-bustard\/\">the great Indian bustard<\/a>), state animal (chinkara), state tree (Khejri), and state flower (Rohida)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are all found naturally.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Area:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Total area of the Park is<\/span><b> 3162 sq. km.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Establish year: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was<\/span><b> established in 1980<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a collection of fossils of animals and plants <\/span><b>which are nearly 180 million years old.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><b>Some fossils of Dinosaurs of 6 million years old<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been found in the area.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Landscape: <\/b>A major part of the park consists of a <b>landscape featuring the <\/b><strong>l<\/strong><b><strong data-start=\"65\" data-end=\"116\">akebeds of extinct salt lakes and thorny scrub.<\/strong><\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b><strong data-start=\"126\" data-end=\"172\">Around 20% of the Park is covered by sand dunes<\/strong>.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The major landform <\/span><b>consists of craggy rocks and compact salt lake bottoms, inters medial areas and fixed dunes.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Climate: It falls in the extreme hot, arid region <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of a very low rainfall zone of the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Vegetation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vegetation is <\/span><b>sparse, and patches of sewan grass and aak shrub <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">can be seen.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Lakes: Rajbaugh Lake, Malik Talao Lake and Padam Talao <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are three main lakes in this sanctuary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Flora: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rich flora of the park consists of<\/span><b> dhok, ronj, salai and palm trees.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The Khejri tree (Prosopis cineraria) is commonly found in the region <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and is deeply revered and <strong>protected by local communities, particularly the Bishnoi community.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Fauna: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The wildlife of the Desert National Park includes <\/span><b>Blackbuck, Chinkara, Desert fox, Bengal Fox, Indian Wolf, Desert Cat, Hare etc.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reptiles are also found in abundance and they include <\/span><b>spiny \u2013tailed lizard, monitor lizard, saw scaled-viper, Russel viper , Karit.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> endangered Great Indian Bustard <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is one of <strong>the most notable species<\/strong> found here.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also provides habitat for <strong>numerous resident and migratory desert birds,<\/strong><\/span><b> including eagles, harriers, falcons, kestrels, vultures, larks, bee-eaters, shrikes, partridges, and quails.
