Kagan \u2013 Controlling Molecular Asymmetry:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Kagan studied <strong>how chemical reactions could be made to produce more of one mirror-image molecule than the other.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He found that <strong>changing the proportion of the two mirror-image forms in a reaction could produce a much different proportion<\/strong> of the resulting products, <strong>showing a non-linear effect.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>In 1986<\/strong>, he <strong>developed a method to manipulate chemical reactions<\/strong> so that they <strong>produced a greater excess of one mirror-image form<\/strong> than previously thought possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kenso Soai \u2013 Achieving Homochirality:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Building on Kagan\u2019s work, Soai searched for<strong> non-linear, asymmetric reactions that could catalyse their own formation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In <strong>1995<\/strong>, he designed the <strong>first chemical reaction with the potential to become homochiral.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In <strong>2003, he demonstrated a reaction that produced only one of the two possible mirror-image forms.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: The 2026 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Henri B.
