Broadcasting<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Bhai Parmanand<\/strong> was a <\/span>prominent Indian<b> freedom fighter, nationalist thinker, educationist, and leader of the Arya Samaj.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li>He was popularly known as <strong>&#8216;Devata Swarup&#8217;.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Birth: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was born on<\/span><b> 4 November 1876 in Multan (now in Pakistan).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Early age: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From a young age,<\/span><b> he was deeply influenced by patriotic ideas and the reformist teachings of the Arya Samaj,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which emphasized truth, discipline, and national pride.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Influenced by: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> Arya Samaj significantly influenced his ideals <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and commitment to public service.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>International Activities:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In the early 20th century,<\/span><b> he travelled to South Africa in connection with Arya Samaj activities, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where he met Mahatma Gandhi.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also <\/span><b>worked among the Girmitiya community in Guyana,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where the Arya Samaj had an established presence.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Role in the Ghadar Movement: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was among the<\/span><b> founding members of the Ghadar Party<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and helped inspire other revolutionaries.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also<\/span><b> encouraged Lala Har Dayal to travel to the United States.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Imprisonment:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>British authorities sentenced him to transportation to the Andaman Islands, commonly known as Kala Pani,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for his involvement in the freedom movement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Autobiographical Account: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His book,<\/span><b> Aapbeeti: Kaale Paani Ki Kaaraavaas Kahaani<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, describes<\/span> the hardships and sacrifices endured by<b> freedom fighters under British rule.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Contributions:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Contribution to Education: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After completing his prison sentence<\/span><b>, he devoted himself to education.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He also taught <\/span><b>Bhagat Singh, who later emerged as a prominent revolutionary.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Association with Hindu Mahasabha:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> During the later years of his life,<\/span> he was associated with the<b> Hindu Mahasabha.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In independent India, <\/span>his contributions were recognized when he became the <b>Governor of Himachal Pradesh.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Legacy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Bhai Parmanand<\/span><b> passed away on 8 December 1947.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is <\/span><b>remembered as a courageous patriot and intellectual <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">who dedicated his life to the cause of freedom, social reform, and national unity.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the 139th episode of Mann Ki Baat, paid tribute to Bhai Parmanand and urged young people to learn about his life, sacrifices and contribution to the freedom struggle.
