ASEAN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Host:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Philippines<\/strong> is hosting the <strong>13th ADMM-Plus 2026.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The meeting will be <strong>held in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Theme:<\/strong> The 2026 edition&#8217;s theme <strong>is \u201cNavigating Our Future, Together.\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Participants:<\/strong> The meeting brings together <strong>11<\/strong> <strong>ASEAN member states<\/strong> and <strong>eight dialogue partners<\/strong>, including <strong>India, the US, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Key Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Indian Delegation:<\/strong> <strong>Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead the Indian delegation<\/strong> and address regional and international security issues.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bilateral Meetings:<\/strong> India will <strong>review ongoing defence ties with participating countries<\/strong> and <strong>explore ways to strengthen strategic partnerships.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>India\u2019s Role:<\/strong> <strong>India is co-chairing the Experts Working Group on Counter-Terrorism<\/strong> with Malaysia for <strong>the 2024\u20132027 cycle.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Regional Engagement:<\/strong> India\u2019s participation reflects its growing defence <strong>engagement with Southeast Asia under the Act East policy.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"red-h2-box\">About ADMM-Plus<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>ASEAN Defence Ministers\u2019 Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) <\/strong>serves as a <strong>key platform to promote peace, stability, and sustainable development across the region.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Origin:<\/strong> The inaugural <strong>ADMM-Plus was convened in Hanoi, Vietnam, on 12 October 2010.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Members:<\/strong> It comprises <strong>11 ASEAN member states<\/strong> (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor Leste and Vietnam) and <strong>8 dialogue partners<\/strong> (India, US, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand), <strong>making 19 participating countries.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Chairmanship:<\/strong> The chairmanship <strong>rotates annually<\/strong> and is <strong>held by the host of the ASEAN Summit.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Meeting Frequency:<\/strong> Defence ministers have <strong>met annually since 2017<\/strong> <strong>to strengthen defence cooperation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives:<\/strong> The ADMM-Plus <strong>seeks to:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Build <strong>ASEAN\u2019s capacity to address shared security challenges.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Promote <strong>mutual trust and transparency<\/strong> among defence establishments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Enhance regional peace and stability<\/strong> through defence cooperation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Support the ASEAN Security Community\u2019s vision<\/strong> of peace, stability, and prosperity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advance the Vientiane Action Programme<\/strong> for a secure and outward-looking ASEAN.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus areas:<\/strong> It currently focuses on <strong>seven areas of practical cooperation<\/strong> \u2013 Counter-Terrorism, Maritime Security, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Management, Peacekeeping Operations, Military Medicine, Humanitarian Mine Action and Cyber Security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lead the Indian delegation to the 13th ADMM-Plus in the Philippines on October 28\u201329, 2026.
