granularity and interoperability<\/strong> while integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics into statistical processes.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 21.2565%;\"><strong>Nodal Ministry<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 78.7435%;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The nodal ministry for the scheme is <strong>Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The initiative will<strong> cover statistical and data management activities of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI),<\/strong> providing flexibility to allocate resources according to evolving policy requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 21.2565%;\"><strong>Focus<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 78.7435%;\">It will<strong> focus on strengthening large-scale surveys, statistical research, digital transformation and national data governance<\/strong> to support evidence-based policymaking.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 21.2565%;\"><strong>Components of the Scheme<\/strong><\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 78.7435%;\">The scheme comprises<strong> three major components:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"selectable-text copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Comprehensive Statistical Operations and Strengthening of Ecosystem:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"selectable-text copyable-text x15bjb6t x1n2onr6\"><span class=\"selectable-text copyable-text xkrh14z\"><strong>59 surveys will be conducted during the 16th Finance Commission cycle <\/strong>to address<strong> critical data gaps across sectors and support more timely and targeted policy interventions.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"selectable-text copyable-text xkrh14z\"><strong>End-to-end digitisation of statistical processes will be done and AI and machine learning will be integrated into routine operations<\/strong>, particularly for data processing, validation and analysis.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"selectable-text copyable-text xkrh14z\">There is also plan<strong>\u00a0to introduce new statistical indicators<\/strong>, including the <strong>Headline Index of Services Production and the Index of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Support for Statistical Strengthening (SSS<\/strong>)\n<ul>\n<li>Financial assistance <strong>will be provided to State and Union Territory Governments<\/strong> through a redesigned, deliverable-linked framework<strong> called SSS 2.0 to strengthen statistical capabilities at state and district levels.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>MoSPI will <strong>provide technical assistance for generating district-level and million-plus-city estimates under major surveys,<\/strong> including PLFS, HCES and ASUSE, and support the preparation of state- and district-level GDP and state-level IIP estimates.<\/li>\n<li>The initiative will<strong> improve data harmonisation, interoperability, data sharing and privacy protection<\/strong> to reduce data fragmentation and duplication and promote evidence-based policymaking.<\/li>\n<li>It will <strong>also encourage the use of alternative data sources,<\/strong> such as mobile phone, scanner and e-commerce data, to supplement traditional surveys.<\/li>\n<li>The scheme <strong>will promote capacity-building and research through student internships and research projects i<\/strong>nvolving academic and research institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;\">Economic Census (EC<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;\">)<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>Under the Economic Census component, MoSPI will conduct<strong style=\"font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit;\"> the eighth Economic Census in collaboration with states and Union Territories.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The exercise<strong> will collect detailed information on non-farm establishments and their workers down to the Gram Panchayat and ward levels,<\/strong> providing a comprehensive assessment of the country\u2019s unorganised economic sector.<\/li>\n<li>The census data will also <strong>serve as the foundation for developing a National Statistical Business Register (SBR),<\/strong> which will facilitate targeted enterprise surveys and support policy interventions.<\/li>\n<li>The data generated through the <strong>Economic Census will help policymakers and planners at national and sub-national levels better assess economic activity<\/strong>, particularly in the unorganised sector, and improve estimates of its contribution to
