{"id":39463,"date":"2018-12-26T19:12:27","date_gmt":"2018-12-26T13:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=39463"},"modified":"2018-12-26T19:12:27","modified_gmt":"2018-12-26T13:42:27","slug":"pm-opens-bogibeel-bridge-indias-longest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/pm-opens-bogibeel-bridge-indias-longest\/","title":{"rendered":"PM opens Bogibeel Bridge, India\u2019s longest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PT Facts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/pm-opens-bogibeel-bridge-indias-longest\/article25829746.ece\">PM opens Bogibeel Bridge, India\u2019s longest<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the strategically important Bogibeel bridge, India&#8217;s longest rail-road bridge over the Brahmaputra river at Bogibeel near Dibrugarh in Assam.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bridge connects Dibrugarh district on the Brahmaputra river\u2019s south bank in Assam to Dhemaji district on the north bank.<\/li>\n<li>The project was conceived by the Rail India Technical Economic Services in 1973<\/li>\n<li>Significance:<\/li>\n<li>Bogibeel Bridge also facilitates the movement of troops in a strategically sensitive region, was part of the Assam Accord of 1985 and was finally sanctioned in the year 1997-98<\/li>\n<li>Bridge will cater livelihoods of millions of people in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>The bridge is expected to significantly enhance India&#8217;s defence capability by ensuring faster movement of troops and supplies to Arunachal Pradesh<\/li>\n<li>Connectivity to the farthest point of India&#8217;s border with China will be shortened by several hundred kilometers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About Brahmaputra Flow:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Brahmaputra enters India in the state of Arunachal Pradesh, where it is called Siang.<\/li>\n<li>It makes a very rapid descent from its original height in Tibet, and finally appears in the plains, where it is called Dihang.<\/li>\n<li>It flows for about 35 km (22 mi) and is joined by the Dibang River and the Lohit River at the head of the Assam Valley.<\/li>\n<li>Below the Lohit, the river is called Brahmaputra and Burlung-Buthur by native Bodo tribal, it then enters the state of Assam.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PT Facts PM opens Bogibeel Bridge, India\u2019s longest News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the strategically important Bogibeel bridge, India&#8217;s longest rail-road bridge over the Brahmaputra river at Bogibeel near Dibrugarh in Assam.
