{"id":39917,"date":"2019-01-05T17:38:43","date_gmt":"2019-01-05T12:08:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=39917"},"modified":"2019-01-05T17:38:43","modified_gmt":"2019-01-05T12:08:43","slug":"seven-cities-have-tackled-faecal-sludge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/seven-cities-have-tackled-faecal-sludge\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven cities have tackled faecal sludge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/seven-cities-have-tackled-faecal-sludge\/article25915155.ece\">Seven cities have tackled faecal sludge<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Seven cities all in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh \u2013 have been certified ODF++, according to the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The seven cities are Indore, Khargone, Sahaganj, Ujjain, Bhilai, Rajnandgaon and Ambikapur<\/li>\n<li>These are the first cities to qualify under the government\u2019s new extended protocol to sustain gains made under the basic ODF protocol<\/li>\n<li>The certification, an extension of the ODF or Open Defecation Free protocol, means that all the faecal sludge and sewage in these cities is treated scientifically before discharge.<\/li>\n<li>These cities have 100% of their faecal matter treated by sewage treatment plants or faecal sludge treatment plants.<\/li>\n<li>They are also free of open defecation and open urination, with at least 25% of the community and public toilets in excellent condition.<\/li>\n<li>The Urban Affairs Ministry is setting up a sub-mission on faecal sludge management under its AMRUT scheme for 500 cities and towns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>SBM ODF++: Definition<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A city can be notified\/ declared as SBM ODF++ if, at any point of the day, not a single person is found defecating and\/ or urinating in the open, all community and public toilets are functional and well maintained, AND faecal sludge\/septage and sewage is safely managed and treated, with no discharging and\/or dumping of untreated faecal sludge\/septage and sewage in drains, water bodies or open areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seven cities have tackled faecal sludge News: Seven cities all in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh \u2013 have been certified ODF++, according to the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban.
