{"id":41827,"date":"2019-02-09T17:51:39","date_gmt":"2019-02-09T12:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=41827"},"modified":"2019-02-09T17:51:39","modified_gmt":"2019-02-09T12:21:39","slug":"medical-devices-to-be-treated-as-drugs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/medical-devices-to-be-treated-as-drugs\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical devices to be treated as drugs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/health\/medical-devices-to-be-treated-as-drugs\/article26219684.ece\">Medical devices to be treated as drugs<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The Health Ministry has announced certain medical devices viz.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">a) all implantable devices,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">b) CT scan,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">c) PET and MRI equipment,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">d) defibrillators,<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">e) dialysis machines and<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">f) bone marrow separators to be brought under the purview of Drugs and Cosmetics Act and thus treated as \u201cdrugs\u201d with effect from 1<sup>st<\/sup> April 2020.<\/p>\n<p>2. Currently, only 23 medical devices are regulated under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940<\/p>\n<p>3.
