            Lightning strikes are common in India during heavy monsoon rains. At least 2,000 people have died in lightning strikes in India every year since 2005, according to the National Crime Records Bureau.<\/span><\/p>\n

            The lack of a reliable warning system is often cited as one reason for the high number of deaths. Another is that a large number of people work outdoors in India compared to other parts of the world, which makes them more vulnerable.<\/span><\/p>\n
