A trade deficit represents an\n outflow of domestic currency to foreign markets.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/india\/pm-modi-reaches-india-after-attending-sco-meet\/articleshow\/69798688.cms\">PM\nModi reaches India after attending SCO meet<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Indian\n PM has concluded his two-day visit to attend the Shanghai Cooperation\n Organisation(SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.<\/li><li>During\n his visit, Indian PM has held successful bilaterals with China, Russia,\n Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan apart from addressing the SCO summit.<\/li><li>He\n coined the acronym HEALTH during his address at the Summit, which is a\n template for strengthening cooperation amongst SCO member-states.<\/li><li>Expanding\n on the acronym, he said that the \u2018H\u2019 in HEALTH stands for Healthcare\n Cooperation,\u2019E\u2019 for Economic Cooperation,\u2019A\u2019 for Alternate Energy, \u2018L\u2019 for\n Literature and Culture,\u2019T\u2019 for Terrorism free society and \u2018H\u2019 for\n Humanitarian Cooperation.<\/li><li>Indian\n PM has also asked the member states to try coordinated action against\n international terrorism under the SCO-Regional Anti Terrorist\n Structure(RATS).<\/li><li>Indian\n PM also said that India\u2019s participation in projects such as the\n International North South Transport Corridor(INSTC),Ashgabat Agreement and\n in the development of Iran\u2019s Chabahar port was a hallmark of its\n commitment to linkages between India and the region.<\/li><li>The\n INSTC is a 7,200-km multimode network of ship, rail and road routes for\n moving freight between India, Iran, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan,\n Russia, Central Asia and Europe.<\/li><li>The\n Ashgabat Agreement is a pact among Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan,\n Iran, Pakistan, India and Oman to build an international transport and\n transit corridor that facilitates transportation of goods between Central\n Asia and the Persian Gulf.<\/li><li>The\n Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) is a permanent organ of the SCO. It\n serves to promote cooperation of member states against (a)terrorism\n (b)separatism and (c) extremism. The head of RATS is elected to a three-year\n term. Each member state also sends a permanent representative to RATS. Its\n headquartered in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/international\/narendra-modi-imran-khan-exchange-pleasantries-during-sco-summit-at-bishkek\/article27942400.ece\">Narendra\nModi, Imran Khan exchange pleasantries during SCO Summit at Bishkek<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Indian\n Prime Minister Narendra Modi has attended the Shanghai Cooperation\n Organisation(SCO) summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.<\/li><li>The\n Bishkek Declaration of the SCO Heads of State Council condemned terrorism\n in all forms and manifestations.<\/li><li>The\n member states stressed on expanding and deepening cooperation in trade,\n finance, investment, transport, energy, agriculture, innovation,\n cutting-edge technology.<\/li><li>They\n also called for keeping outer space free from weapons and importance of\n peaceful uses of outer space.<\/li><li>The\n summit also signed a document titled \u2018Roadmap for Further Action of the\n SCO-Afghanistan Contact Group\u2019.<\/li><li>Further,\n they also stressed on the need to address the illegal cultivation,\n production, circulation, sales and dissemination of narcotic drugs,\n psychotropic substances and precursors.<\/li><li>A\n separate MoU was also signed for establishment of Astana International\n Financial Centre. Apart from that the other agreements were on sports,\n mass media, coordination of humanitarian affairs, tourism, healthcare.<\/li><li>The\n Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, also known as the Shanghai Pact, is a\n Eurasian political, economic, and military organisation. It was founded in\n 2001 by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan\n and Uzbekistan.<\/li><li>Apart\n from Uzbekistan, the other five countries have been a part of the Shanghai\n 5 since 1996.The cooperation was renamed to Shanghai Cooperation\n Organisation after Uzbekistan joined the organisation in 2001.India and\n Pakistan joined SCO as full members in 2017.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gadgets.ndtv.com\/internet\/news\/mary-meeker-2019-internet-trends-report-major-highlights-2052021\">Mary\nMeeker\u2019s 2019 Internet Trends Report: The Internet Is Growing, and So Are the\nProblems That Come With It<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>According\n to Mary Meeker\u2019s Internet Trends Report 2019,Over half of the world\u2019s\n population has access to the internet now with a majority of users which\n is about 53% coming from the Asia-Pacific region.<\/li><li>The\n report says that India has the second largest internet user base at 12%\n while China leads with 21% internet users globally. The United States is\n third with 8% internet users globally.<\/li><li>The\n report also says that seven of the top 10 companies across the world by\n market capitalization are technology companies. Out of these, four of the\n top six are based in the US while two are Chinese companies.<\/li><li>The\n report further revealed that ecommerce occupies 15% of global retail sales\n at present. Sales from online channels went up by 12.4% compared to\n offline retail sales that grew a mere 2%.<\/li><li>The\n report further says that the global smartphone shipments fell by 4% in\n 2018 highlighting the fact that when markets reach mainstream new growth\n is harder to find.<\/li><li>However,\n the report highlights that as the Internet continues to grow, it\u2019s having\n its share of problems as well. Removing inappropriate content still\n remains a major issue for major social platforms on the Internet. Also,\n social media has lead to increased political polarisation and divisiveness<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindubusinessline.com\/news\/science\/scientists-unravel-the-fungus-responsible-for-sheath-blight-disease-in-rice\/article27900452.ece\">Scientists\nunravel the fungus responsible for Sheath Blight disease in rice<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Recently,\n scientists at the National Institute of Plant Genome Research has\n unraveled the genomic diversity associated with aggressiveness of two\n Indian strains of Rhizoctonia solani.<\/li><li>Rhizoctonia\n solani is a fungal pathogen that causes the dreaded Sheath Blight disease\n in rice.<\/li><li>Sheath\n Blight disease is a major issue in rice cultivation. It can cause up to\n 60% reduction in rice yield. It is difficult to breed disease resistant\n rice varieties as there is a lack of natural source of disease resistance.\n Thus, controlling the disease in a sustainable manner has remained a\n challenge.<\/li><li>The\n scientists have identified several genes and gene families in the strain\n that might account for their disease aggressiveness. Glanders is primarily a disease affecting horses, but it also\n affects donkeys, mules, goats, dogs, and cats.<\/li><li>Glanders\n is spread to humans by direct contact with infected animals. The bill says that the right to privacy is a fundamental right\n and unless you have given your explicit consent, your personal data cannot\n be shared or processed.<\/li><li>Further,\n the minister also said that Digital villages has been another area of\n focus for the government which aims to set up one lakh villages with\n facilities like public WiFi, computer literacy centres among others.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pib.nic.in\/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=1574071\">Cabinet\napproves New Delhi International Arbitration Centre Bill,2019<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Union\n Cabinet has approved the New Delhi International Arbitration Centre\n Bill,2019 for introduction in the ensuing session of Parliament.<\/li><li>The\n Bill provides for setting up of an independent autonomous body for\n institutional arbitration and to acquire and transfer the undertakings of\n International Centre For Alternative Dispute Resolution (ICADR) to New\n Delhi International Arbitration Centre(NDIAC).<\/li><li>NDIAC\n will be headed by a chairperson who has been a Judge of the Supreme Court\n or a Judge of a High Court or an eminent person having special knowledge\n and experience in the conduct or administration of arbitration law or\n management, to be appointed by the Central Government in consultation with\n the Chief Justice of India.<\/li><li>There\n will be two Full time or Part time Members from amongst eminent persons\n having substantial knowledge and experience in institutional arbitration\n both domestic and international.<\/li><li>Also,\n one representative of a recognised body of commerce and industry shall be\n chosen on a rotational basis as Part time Member.<\/li><li>The\n Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, Financial Adviser nominated by the\n Department of Expenditure and Chief Executive Officer, NDIAC shall be\n ex-officio Members.<\/li><li>Arbitration\n is one of the methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).ADR is the\n procedure for settling disputes without litigation.
