The RQ-4A Global Hawk drone is essentially\n a high-altitude robot used for surveillance over the ocean and coastal\n areas.<\/li><li>This\n comes after US had blamed Iran for recent attacks on foreign shipping\n tankers that took place near the Strait of Hormuz.<\/li><li>Further,\n Iran has quadrupled its production of low-enriched uranium and threatened\n to boost its enrichment closer to weapons-grade levels trying to pressure\n Europe for new terms to the 2015 nuclear deal.<\/li><li>The\n United States has also deployment additional troops in the West Asia\n against the backdrop of increasing tensions with Iran.<\/li><li>The\n Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp was formed after the 1979 Islamic\n revolution with a mission to defend the clerical regime, in contrast to\n more traditional military units that protect borders.<\/li><li>The\n Revolutionary Guards have amassed strong power within Iran, including with\n significant economic interests. The Guards\u2019 prized unit is the Quds Force\n which supports forces allied with Iran around the region including Syrian\n President and Lebanon\u2019s Hezbollah.<\/li><li>The\n United States has recently designated Iran\u2019s elite Islamic Revolutionary\n Guard Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/Industry\/council-may-consider-gst-cut-on-evs\/article28089347.ece\">Council\nmay consider GST cut on EVs<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>GST\n Council may cut the goods and services tax(GST) on electric vehicles to 5%\n from 12% to provide a stimulus to the sector.<\/li><li>The\n lower rate are expected to encourage global manufacturers to invest in\n India\u2019s planned shift to electric vehicles in order to try and bring down\n pollution levels.<\/li><li>The\n Niti Aayog has prepared a roadmap that envisages all vehicles sold after\n 2030 being electric. The roadmap lays down that all two-and three wheelers\n should go electric from 2023 and all commercial vehicles from 2026.<\/li><li>GST\n (Goods and Services Tax) is an indirect tax that has replaced many Central\n and State taxes like excise duty, VAT and service tax. It is a single\n comprehensive tax levied on all goods and services produced in India as\n well as those imported from other countries.<\/li><li>Goods\n &amp; Services Tax Council is a constitutional body for making\n recommendations to the Union and State Government on issues related to\n Goods and Service Tax. It aims at better protection of these\n intangible cultural heritages and raise awareness about their\n significance.<\/li><li>The\n list was established in 2008 when the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding\n of the Intangible Cultural Heritage came into effect.<\/li><li>Intangible\n Cultural Heritage means the practices, representations, expressions,\n knowledge, skills \u2013as well as the instruments, objects, artefacts and\n cultural spaces that communities, groups or individuals recognize as part\n of their cultural heritage.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/energy-and-environment\/a-water-clinic-for-jumbos-opens-on-the-banks-of-the-yamuna\/article28078217.ece\/\">A\nwater clinic for elephants opens on the banks of the Yamuna<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>India\n has opened its first specialised hydrotherapy treatment for elephants\n suffering from arthritis, joint pain and foot ailments.<\/li><li>Hydrotherapy\n is a form of physical therapy that uses the therapeutic benefits of water\n to perform physical rehabilitation in animals.<\/li><li>The\n treatment centre is situated on the banks of the Yamuna in Mathura near\n the Wildlife SOS\u2019 Elephant Conservation and Care Centre (ECCC).<\/li><li>It\n currently houses rescued elephants and is run in collaboration with the\n Uttar Pradesh Forest Department and the NGO Wildlife SOS.<\/li><li>The\n new hydrotherapy jumbo pool is 11-foot-deep and has 21 high pressure jet\n sprays that create water pressure that massage the elephants feet and body\n and help in increasing blood circulation.<\/li><li>The\n hospital started in 2018 already offers state-of-the-art modern facilities\n including (a) wireless digital X-ray (b) laser treatment (c) dental X-ray\n (d) thermal imaging and (e) ultrasonography to treat injured, sick and\n geriatric elephants.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/international\/no-h1b-visa-caps-over-data-localisation-us-state-department\/article28093898.ece\">No\nH1B Visa caps in retaliation for data localisation: U.S State Department<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The\n US state department has said the US has no plans to restrict H-1B work\n visas for countries that force international firms to store data locally.<\/li><li>This\n statement came in the backdrop of a report which had said that the U.S.\n was considering capping H1Bs at 10-15% of all H1Bs for countries that had\n a data localisation policy.<\/li><li>The\n H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US companies to employ\n foreign workers in occupations that require theoretical or technical\n expertise.<\/li><li>Dependents\n of H-1B visa holders get H-4 visas. The H1B is a temporary visa but is a\n pathway to permanent residency which is Green Card in the U.S.<\/li><li>There\n is a mandated cap of 65,000 H1B visas under the general category and a\n further 20,000 for advanced degree holders. However, there are no country-wise\n caps for H1B visas.<\/li><li>The\n US administration has taken several steps to tighten the rules on the H1B\n programme since U.S. President had signed the \u2018Buy American and Hire\n American\u2019 order in 2017.<\/li><li>Some\n of these changes have focussed on combating fraud, such as through site\n visits and ensuring that the probability of higher qualified workers\n getting visas is increased.<\/li><li>Other\n changes have made the H1B programme less attractive. India has improved in ease of doing index that indicates\n our progress in business area.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/business\/crop-insurance-claims-surge-delay-in-disbursals-falls-5791471\/\">Crop\ninsurance claims surge, delay in disbursals falls<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The\n government\u2019s crop insurance scheme Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana\n (PMFBY) has witnessed a rise in claims ratio from farmers across the\n country in fiscal 2018-19.<\/li><li>The\n higher claims ratio means farmers have claimed a larger amount of the crop\n insurance portfolio under the scheme as against portfolio in the previous\n year.<\/li><li>Most\n of the claims have come from states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and\n Karnataka given that crop insurance penetration was lower in heartland\n states like Bihar and UP.<\/li><li>In\n overall terms, India has become the third largest crop insurance market in\n the world after the US and China.<\/li><li>The\n Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Prime Minister\u2019s Crop Insurance Scheme)\n was launched in 2016.The scheme has replaced the two schemes National\n Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) as well as the Modified NAIS.<\/li><li>PMFBY\n envisages a uniform premium of 2% to be paid by farmers for Kharif crops\n and 1.5% for Rabi crops. The\n bacteria live in soil and usually infect wild and domestic animals such as\n goats, cattle and sheep.<\/li><li>However,\n humans, pigs and dogs are comparatively less susceptible and only get\n infected if exposed to copious amount of spores.<\/li><li>Anthrax\n does not spread directly from one infected animal or person to another as\n it spread by spores. The first 100\n cities chosen through a competitive process would house one innovation\n centre each.<\/li><li>The\n Prime Minister\u2019s Office (PMO) has entrusted the work to Niti Aayog,\n Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Ministry of Electronics and\n Information Technology (MeitY) and Ministry of Skill Development and\n Entrepreneurship.<\/li><li>The\n innovation centres would be used as tinkering laboratories to solve urban\n issues including traffic congestion, mosquito breeding, stray dog menace\n or pollution due to local industries.<\/li><li>Each\n urban local body would flag an issue and the idea would be thrown open to\n entrepreneurs to come and suggest a solution. If an experiment is successful in one centre, it could be shared\n on a common platform for replication in other cities with similar issues.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pib.nic.in\/newsite\/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=190532\">Shri RK\nSingh approves Dispute Resolution Mechanism for solar\/wind sector<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Union\n Minister of State for Power and New &amp; Renewable Energy(IC) has\n approved a proposal to set up a Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) for\n solar\/wind sector.<\/li><li>This\n move will give further fillip to the smooth implementation of solar\/wind\n energy projects in India.<\/li><li>It\n fulfils a long pending demand of the industry to resolve expeditiously,\n unforeseen disputes that may arise beyond the scope of Contractual\n Agreements.<\/li><li>A\n three member Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) will be set up with the\n approval of Hon\u2019ble Minister (NRE) consisting of eminent persons of\n impeccable integrity.<\/li><li>The\n upper age for the DRC members shall be 70 years. Previously, the government had cleared the procurement of 111\n Naval Utility Helicopters (NUH) under the SP Model.<\/li><li>In\n 2017, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced the Strategic Partnership\n model for the Indian private sector. Its battery will have 80 KWh (kilowatt\n hour) power backup.<\/li><li>It\n will be able to carry 100 passengers. The vessel will have an\n air-conditioned lower deck and pushback seats. The upper deck, which is\n non-air conditioned, can be used for dining and to get a better view of\n the backwaters.<\/li><li>Kerala\n had launched India\u2019s first solar-powered ferry, named Aditya, in 2016. It\n operates between Vaikom and Thavanakkadavu, connecting Kottayam and\n Alappuzha districts of Kerala. Aditya is also the largest solar-powered\n boat in India with 75 seats capacity.<\/li><li>It\n was built with the financial aid in the form of subsidy from the Union\n Ministry of New and Renewable Energy by the Kerala State Water Transport\n Department.<\/li><li>Conventional\n ferries releases huge amount of CO2 into the atmosphere. Further, the oil\n spill from such boats is harmful to aquatic ecosystem and to the water\n body.<\/li><li>However,\n solar ferry boats neither create pollution in atmosphere nor aquatic\n environment. The fast rate of ice loss has been linked to rising\n average temperatures.<\/li><li>Though\n temperatures vary from place to place, the average temperature in the\n region, between 2000 and 2016, was 1 degree Celsius higher than it was\n from 1975 to 2000.<\/li><li>The\n region that encompasses the Himalaya-Hindu Kush mountain range and the\n Tibetan Plateau is widely known as the Third Pole. This is because its ice\n fields contain the largest reserve of fresh water outside the Polar\n Regions.
