class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>According to the findings of the Basel Committee on Banking\n Supervision (BCBS),Reserve Bank of India\u2019s(RBI) norms on large\n exposures(LEX) for banks are compliant with the Basel requirements.<\/li><li>The assessment was conducted by the Regulatory Consistency\n Assessment Programme(RCAP).<\/li><li>The assessment focused on the completeness and consistency of\n the domestic regulations in force by RBI on commercial banks in India.<\/li><li>The report has said that while Basel large exposures framework\n limits the sum of all exposures of a bank to a single counterparty to 25%\n of Tier 1 capital,Indian regulations establish the large exposure limit at\n 20%.<\/li><li>Further,Indian banks exposures to global systemically important\n banks are subject to stricter limits which is in line with the letter and\n spirit of the Basel Guidelines.<\/li><li><strong>Basel Committee on Banking Supervision(BCBS)<\/strong>&nbsp;is the primary global standard setter for the prudential\n regulation of banks.It has 45 members comprising central banks and bank\n supervisors from 28 jurisdictions.<\/li><li><strong>Basel III<\/strong>&nbsp;is an\n internationally agreed set of measures developed by the BCBS in response\n to the financial crisis of 2007-09.The measures aim to strengthen the\n regulation, supervision and risk management of banks.<\/li><li><strong>RCAP<\/strong>&nbsp;was established by the\n Basel Committee in 2011.RCAP assessments aim to ensure that each member\n jurisdiction adopts the Basel Framework in a manner consistent with the\n Framework\u2019s letter and spirit.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pib.nic.in\/newsite\/PrintRelease.aspx?relid=191375\"><strong>NHAI Signs\nMoU with NIIF for funding highway projects<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The National Highways Authority of India(NHAI) has signed an\n MoU with National Investment and Infrastructure Fund(NIIF) for funding\n highway projects.<\/li><li>This agreement is expected to provide innovative financial\n models including for the Bharatmala Pariyojana.<\/li><li><strong>Bharatmala Pariyojana<\/strong>&nbsp;is an\n umbrella program for the highways sector that focuses on optimizing\n efficiency of freight and passenger movement across India.<\/li><li>The objective of the program is optimal resource allocation for\n a holistic highway development and improvement initiative.<\/li><li><strong>NIIF<\/strong>&nbsp;was set up in 2015 as an\n investment vehicle for funding commercially viable greenfield, brownfield\n and stalled projects in the infrastructure sector.<\/li><li>NIIF invests in areas such as energy, transportation, housing,\n water, waste management and other infrastructure-related sectors in India.<\/li><li><strong>NHAI<\/strong>&nbsp;is an autonomous agency\n of the Government of India.It was set up in 1988 and is responsible for\n the management of a network of over 50,000 km of National Highways out of\n 1,15,000 km in India.It is a nodal agency of the Ministry of Road\n Transport and Highways.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a Samwad\u201d.<\/li><li><strong>Kaushal Yuva Samwaad&nbsp;<\/strong>aims to\n create a dialogue between the youth and the Ministry.<\/li><li>The program is intended to identify and rectify the gaps so\n that all skill development programs are aligned to the current demands and\n help in creating a skilled workforce for the future.<\/li><li>The program is being organized across all Skill India training\n centres, namely, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKK), Industrial\n Training Institutes (ITIs),Jan Shikshan Sansthans among others.<\/li><li>Further,this program is launched to celebrate respect of sex ratio at\n birth(SRB).<\/li><li>Consistent performance in respect of SRB indicates that the\n \u2018Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao\u2019 scheme is gaining ground in the state.<\/li><li><strong>Beti<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Bachao Beti\n Padhao(BBBP)&nbsp;<\/strong>scheme was launched in January, 2015.The scheme is\n aimed at promoting gender equality and the immigrants can even be considered for refugee status.<\/li><li>This hearing came on a petition of Rohingyas who had moved the\n Supreme Court against the Centre\u2019s proposed plan to deport Rohingyas to\n the land of their origin which is Myanmar.<\/li><li>Rohingya is an ethnic group largely comprising Muslims who\n predominantly live in the Western Myanmar province of Rakhine.They speak a\n dialect of Bengali as opposed to the commonly spoken Burmese language in\n Myanmar.<\/li><li>They have not been granted full citizenship by Myanmar.They are\n classified as resident foreigners or associate citizens.<\/li><li>Lakhs of Rohingyas have been displaced with majority of them\n seeking refuge in Bangladesh and India.In India,there are nearly 40,000\n Rohingya refugees.<\/li><li>Further,India does not have a specific law regarding\n refugees.India has also not been a signatory of the 1951 UN Convention or\n the 1967 Protocol \u2013 both relating to the Status of Refugees and included\n in the UNHCR statute.<\/li><li>According to the UNHCR,a refugee is a person living in another\n country following persecution in his own on the grounds of \u201crace,\n religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or\n political opinion.\u201d<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/business\/banks-reported-44016-frauds-in-last-11-years\/article28335785.ece\"><strong>Banks\nreported 44,016 frauds in last 11 years<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>According to the data provided by the Finance Ministry,banks\n have reported 44,016 frauds in the last 11 years since 2008-09.The frauds\n being considered in the list are those involving \u20b91 lakh or more.<\/li><li>The ministry said that the government had issued a \u2018framework\n for the timely detection,reporting,investigation relating to large value\n banks frauds\u2019.<\/li><li>The framework mandates that all bank accounts exceeding \u20b950\n crore, if classified as Non-performing assets(NPAs) be examined by banks\n from the angle of a possible fraud.<\/li><li>NPA is a loan or advance for which the principal or interest\n payment remained overdue for a period of 90 days.<\/li><li>Further,Public sector banks have also been advised to obtain a\n certified copy of the passport of the promoters\/directors and other\n authorised signatories of companies availing loan facilities of more than\n \u20b950 crore.<\/li><li>Besides,the government has also enacted Fugitive Economic\n Offenders Act, 2018.The act seeks to confiscate properties and assets of\n economic offenders that evade prosecution by remaining outside the\n jurisdiction of Indian courts.<\/li><li>Economic offences with a value of more than Rs 100 crores which\n are listed in the schedule of the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act come\n under the purview of this officials has agreed on a roadmap for peace that could end the 18-year war\n in Afghanistan.<\/li><li>The roadmap hopes to reach an agreement that would see US\n troops pull out in return for a commitment that Afghanistan would not be\n used as a base for terrorism.<\/li><li>This non-binding agreement comes as the US and Taliban continue\n to negotiate on a US withdrawal from Afghanistan.<\/li><li>Taliban and the US are currently focusing on four key issues\n that are going to decide any future agreement and the issues are (a)\n counterterrorism (b)troop withdrawal (c)intra-Afghan dialogue and\n (d)ceasefire.<\/li><li>Further,Indian Government have maintained that peace process in\n Afghanistan should be Afghan led and Afghan owned and India will not\n engage with the Taliban directly and would rather pursue bilateral ties\n through investing in development projects.<\/li><li>The Taliban has ruled large parts of Afghanistan from 1996 to\n 2001, before waste<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has criticised 52 firms\n for flouting Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) under the Plastic\n Waste Management Rules, 2016 (amended in 2018).<\/li><li>Under EPR, responsibility of collection of used plastics and\n multilayered plastics is entrusted upon producers, importers and brand\n owners.<\/li><li>The companies are mandated to provide a timeline or a plan to\n collect the plastic waste that results from their business activities.\n However the firms have not yet registered at the online portal and\n disclosed their disposal plans.<\/li><li>The Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 offer directives to\n urban local bodies and Gram Panchayats on segregation, collection,\n transportation, processing and disposal of plastic waste in their areas of\n jurisdiction.
