It has decided to move to the Supreme Court appealing for\n re-verification in selected districts.<\/li><li>Earlier, the Centre and\n Assam Government had sought a 20 % sample re-verification of names included\n in the final draft of the NRC in the districts bordering Bangladesh and a\n 10% sample re-verification in the remaining districts. However, the plea\n was rejected by Supreme Court.<\/li><li>The National Register of\n Citizens (NRC) was published on August 31, 2019. Over 19 lakh people were\n excluded from the final list. <\/li><li>Excluded persons will\n have 120 days to file an appeal at any of the existing Foreigners\n Tribunals. The Tribunals are required to dispose of the cases within six\n months. Appellants can then approach the High Court and Supreme Court.\n They will get a window of 10 months to prove their citizenship before\n being sent to detention centres<\/li><li>The National Register of\n Citizens (NRC) is a register which contains the name of all citizens of\n India residing in Assam. It was first prepared in 1951.<\/li><li>The NRC has recently been\n updated in Assam to address the issue of illegal migrants. It seeks to\n identify illegal migrants in Assam who had entered the state on or after\n 25th March 1971.<\/li><li>The update has been carried\n out under the Citizenship Act, 1955, and according to rules framed in the\n Assam Accord, 1985.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/russia-to-train-four-indian-astronauts-for-gaganyaan\/article29316290.ece\">Russia\nto train four Indian astronauts for Gaganyaan<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Russia will help in 4-5\n critical areas of the Gaganyaan Mission. This includes training of Indian\n astronauts at Russian facilities.<\/li><li>A special ISRO unit will\n be established in the embassy in Moscow to facilitate increased\n cooperation between India and Russia in view of the Gaganyaan programme<\/li><li>Gaganyaan is India\u2019s first\n Human Space Flight Programme to be launched by Indian Space Research Organisation\n (ISRO) by 2022.<\/li><li>The programme will make\n India the fourth nation in the world to launch a Human Spaceflight\n Mission. So far, only the USA, Russia and China have launched human\n spaceflight missions.<\/li><li>Space launch vehicle, GSLV\n MK III will be used for the Gaganyaan mission. It has been modified to fit\n a crew module and life support to carry astronauts to space.<\/li><li>Russia has conducted a\n number of human spaceflight missions viz. the Vostok program, Voskhod\n program, Soyuz program. Vostok 1 in 1961 was the first human orbital\n flight and Yuri Gagarin became the first man in space. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/india\/incentivising-rural-development-how-haryanas-rainbow-scheme-is-transforming-its-villages-5957360\/\">7\nStar Rainbow scheme<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The 7-Star Rainbow Scheme\n was launched by Haryana state government in 2018. It focuses on incentivising\n and encourage the working of Gram Panchayats in Haryana.<\/li><li>Under the scheme, the gram\n Panchayats are assessed on seven parameters which are recognised with a\n star. Further, each parameter is a given a specific colour. <\/li><li>The different parameters\n are: a) Sex Ratio (pink), b) Education and No dropouts (Sky Blue), c)\n Hygiene and Sanitation (White), d) Peace and Harmony (Saffron), e) Environment\n preservation (Green), f) Good Governance (Golden), and g) Social Participation\n (Silver)<\/li><li>Haryana government has\n also included another parameter of digital literacy under Education\u2019s head\n from 2019<\/li><li>Gram Panchayats scoring\n full marks in any of the parameter are facilitated with \u201cStar\u201d of that\n parameter.<\/li><li>Villages for achieving\n each parameter are awarded Rs. 1 Lakh. Villages having equal or more girl\n population are given Rs. 50000 as bonus with the reward money.<\/li><li>Gram Panchayats scoring\n maximum in all parameters are recognised as Indradhanush Gram Panchayats <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/news\/india\/india-to-join-developed-nations-in-ocean-studies-with-samudrayaan-project-1567353695501.html\">Samudrayaan<\/a>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The &#8216;Samudrayaan&#8217; is a\n part of the Ministry of Earth Sciences&#8217; pilot project for deep ocean\n mining for rare minerals.<\/li><li>The project proposes to\n send a submersible vehicle with three persons to a depth of about 6000\n metres to carry out deep underwater studies<\/li><li>The project is being\n undertaken by National Institute of Ocean Technology.<\/li><li>Recently, the Indian\n government has given approval to the Deep Ocean Mission (DOM). The mission\n proposes to explore Deep Ocean similar to space exploration started by\n ISRO.<\/li><li>Key areas of the mission\n are: a) Deep-sea mining: exploitation of polymetallic nodules(PMN), b) Ocean\n climate change advisory services, c) Underwater vehicles, d) Underwater\n robotics related technologies<\/li><li>Two key projects have been\n planned under the Mission: a) Desalination plant powered by tidal energy,\n b) Submersible vehicle equipped to explore depths of at least 6,000\n metres.<\/li><li>The mission will be led by\n the Union Earth Sciences Ministry. It will be a five-year mission and is\n expected to commence from October 31, 2019.<\/li><li>India has been allocated a\n site of 75,000 sq km in the Central Indian Ocean Basin by the\n International Sea Bed Authority for exploration of polymetallic nodules\n from seabed.<\/li><li>The estimated resource of\n polymetallic nodules is about 380 million tonnes, containing 4.7 million\n tonnes of nickel, 4.29 million tonnes of copper and 0.55 million tonnes of\n cobalt and 92.59 million tonnes of manganese.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pib.gov.in\/PressReleseDetail.aspx?PRID=1583635\"><strong>5th AQUA\nAQUARIA INDIA 2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Vice\n President of India has inaugurated the fifth edition of Aqua Aquaria\n India-2019.<\/li><li>The\n theme of the event is \u201cTaking Blue revolution to India\u2019s hinterland\u201d. The\n event is being organised by the Marine Products Export Development\n Authority(MPEDA).<\/li><li>Addressing\n the session,Vice President said that India is the second largest fish\n producer in the world with a production of 13.70 million tonnes during\n 2018-19.<\/li><li>India\n earns 10% of its total exports from fisheries.India is also the fourth\n largest exporter of fish in revenue terms.The contribution of fisheries to\n the Gross Domestic Product is about 1% and about 5.37% to the Agricultural\n GDP.<\/li><li>However,India\n utilizes only about 40% of the available 2.36 million hectares of ponds\n and tanks for freshwater aquaculture and about 15% of a total potential\n brackish resource of 1.2 million hectares.<\/li><li>Hence,there\n is a need to boost fish production to ensure food security to our\n population.<\/li><li>MPEDA\n was constituted in 1972 under the Marine Products Export Development\n Authority Act,1972.It functions under the Department of\n Commerce,Government of India.<\/li><li>It\n acts as a coordinating agency with different Central and State Government\n establishments engaged in fishery production and allied activities.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/special-tiger-force-for-corbett-reserve-set-up-wildlife-officials-welcome-move\/article29288629.ece\"><strong>Special\nTiger Force for Corbett Reserve set up<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Uttarakhand\n Government has decided to set up Special Tiger Force for Corbett Tiger\n Reserve(CTR).<\/li><li>The\n special tiger force will check illegal human intrusion into the reserve\n through villages located on its fringes and serve as a second layer of\n protection for tigers at the CTR.<\/li><li>Jim\n Corbett National Park was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park- the\n first national park in India.It is located in Nainital district of\n Uttarakhand.<\/li><li>The\n park was also declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1973.It is the first to come\n under the Project Tiger initiative.<\/li><li>Corbett\n is one of the richest bird regions of the Country and has been declared as\n an \u2018Important Bird Area\u2019 (IBA) by Birdlife International.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindubusinessline.com\/economy\/india-to-become-largest-importer-of-coking-coal-by-2025-says-fitch-solutions\/article29297781.ece\"><strong>India\nto become largest importer of coking coal by 2025, says Fitch Solutions<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>According\n to a Fitch report,India will overtake China as the largest importer of\n coking coal by 2025.<\/li><li>The\n report has forecasted that India\u2019s coking coal consumption will grow at an\n annual average rate of 5.4% between 2019 and 2028 due to robust expansion\n in steel production in the country.<\/li><li>However,China\n will continue to account for roughly two-thirds of global coking coal\n production and consumption over the coming years.<\/li><li>But\n China&#8217;s steel production will decrease in the medium term with the slowing\n of the economy and construction sectors dragging coking coal consumption\n lower.<\/li><li>Coking\n coal also known as metallurgical coal is used to create coke.Coke is one\n of the key irreplaceable inputs for the production of steel.<\/li><li>There\n are many varieties of coal in the world ranging from brown coal or lignite\n to anthracite.However,the property that sets coking coals apart from other\n coals is its caking ability, composition, mineral content among others.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/andhra-pradesh\/panel-to-study-uranium-contamination-in-aps-kadapa-district\/article29310460.ece\"><strong>Panel\nto study uranium contamination in A.P.\u2019s Kadapa district<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The\n Andhra Pradesh government has ordered an inquiry into complaints about\n groundwater pollution caused by the uranium processing project of the\n Uranium Corporation of India Limited(UCIL) at Tummalapalle of Kadapa\n district.<\/li><li>UCIL\n is a centrally owned Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) for uranium mining\n and uranium processing under the Department of Atomic Energy. It was\n founded in 1976.UCIL is responsible for the mining and milling of uranium\n ore in India.<\/li><li>UCIL\n operates six underground mines at Bagjata, Jaduguda, Bhatin, Narwapahar,\n Turamdih and Mahuldiha and one open pit mine (Banduhurang) in the State of\n Jharkhand.<\/li><li>UCIL\n is also constructing a new underground mine and process plant at\n Tummalapalle in Andhra Pradesh.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/education\/new-one-year-programme-ek-bharat-vijayi-bharat-on-vivekananda-5953764\/\"><strong>Ek\nBharat, Vijayi Bharat<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Kanyakumari-based\n Vivekanand Kendra and its state units will launch a year-long nation-wide\n mass contact programme titled \u201cEk Bharat Vijayi Bharat\u201d on September\n 2,2019.<\/li><li>The\n mass contact programme coincides with the 50th foundation year of\n Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari.<\/li><li>The\n programme will involve around 20,000 workers of around 1,005 units of\n Vivekanand Kendra across the country.<\/li><li>The\n programme will focus on spreading the messages of Swami Vivekananda making\n people aware of the inspiring story of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the\n activities of Vivekanand Kendra.<\/li><li>Swami\n Vivekananda was born as Narendra Nath Datta in 1863.He was a monk and\n chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramhansa.<\/li><li>He\n introduced Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world\n and is credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to\n the world stage during the late 19th century.<\/li><li>He\n established Ramakrishna Mission in 1987.The institution did extensive\n educational and philanthropic work in India.He also represented India in\n the first Parliament of Religion held in Chicago (U.S.) in 1893.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a opened in Ambikapur<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>India\u2019s\n first Garbage Caf\u00e9 will soon be opened in the city of Ambikapur in north Chhattisgarh.It\n is a step towards making the city plastic-free.&nbsp;<\/li><li>This\n initiative is led by the Ambikapur municipal corporation of\n Chhattisgarh.The city has been hailed as the second cleanest city in the\n against their exclusion in the Foreigners&#8217;\n Tribunals.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The\n Assam government will establish 400 Foreigners Tribunals in the state to\n deal with such appeals.<\/li><li>The\n to roll-out &#8216;Build for Digital India&#8217;.<\/li><li>The\n programme will give engineering students a platform to develop\n market-ready, technology-based solutions that address key social problems.<\/li><li>As\n part of the programme, engineering students will be invited to present\n their ideas in areas like healthcare, agriculture, education, smart cities\n and infrastructure,
