two hectares of land), by virtue of their economic\n condition are unable to own farm machinery on their own or through\n institutional credit.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Therefore in order to bring farm machinery\n available within the reach of small\/marginal holdings,Custom Hiring\n Centres have been established.<\/li><li>Ideally,the CHCs should be located within\n a radius of 5 to 7 kms of land class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Snow leopards (Panthera uncial) belong to\n the family of cats called Felidae.<\/li><li>The snow leopard\u2019s fur is whitish to gray\n with black spots on head and neck, but larger rosettes on the back, flanks\n and bushy tail.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Habitat:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Snow leopards are found in 12 range\n countries namely Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan,\n Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and\n Uzbekistan.China contains as much as 60% of all snow leopard habitat\n areas.<\/li><li>In India,snow leopards are found in the\n high altitude areas above the forested areas above 3000m.<\/li><li>The states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal\n Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh constitute snow leopard\n Habitat range in India.<\/li><li>Further,they are also the State animal of\n Uttarakhand and the National Heritage Animal of 2013 by 12 countries\n encompassing the snow leopard\u2019s range.The countries are Afghanistan,\n Bhutan, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Nepal,\n Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.<\/li><li><strong>Bishkek Declaration-&nbsp;<\/strong>The 12 range countries had signed the\n Bishkek Declaration to acknowledge that the snow leopard is an\n irreplaceable symbol of our nations\u2019 natural and cultural heritage and an\n indicator of the health and sustainability of mountain ecosystems.<\/li><li><strong>Global Snow Leopard and Ecosystem\n Protection Program-<\/strong>It is\n a joint initiative of range country governments, international agencies,\n civil society, and the private sector.Its goal is to secure the long-term\n survival of the snow Army is scheduled to conduct a major\nExercise called \u2018HimVijay\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About the Exercise:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The exercise HimVijay will be conducted by\n 17 Mountain Strike Corps.<\/li><li>The exercise will take place in\n October,2019 in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.<\/li><li>The Indian army will join with the\n integrated battle groups(IBGs) for this exercise.The Indian Air force(IAF)\n will also be part of the exercise for strategic airlift of personnel and\n equipment.<\/li><li>The primary aim of carrying out such an\n exercise is to test if the Mountain Strike Corps which is under the\n Eastern command can carry out operations in different trends<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>TheWorld Health Organization(WHO)\nhas released a study which shows that suicides account for one death every 40\nseconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key findings of the\nstudy:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The study has shown that close to 8 lakh\n people die due to suicide every year.In other words,suicides account for\n one death every 40 seconds.<\/li><li>The global age-standardized suicide rate\n for 2016 was 10.5 per 100,000.<\/li><li>The study has shown that 79% of the\n world\u2019s suicides occurred in low- and middle-income countries.But high-income\n countries also had the highest rate at 11.5 per 100 000.<\/li><li>Further,nearly three times as many men as\n women die by suicide in high-income countries,in contrast to low- and\n middle-income countries, where the rate is more equal.<\/li><li>The study has also said that suicide was\n the second leading cause of death among young people aged 15-29 years\n after road injury.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recommendations:<\/strong>The key interventions that have shown success\nin reducing suicides are&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>restricting access to means<\/li><li>educating the media on responsible\n reporting of suicide<\/li><li>implementing programmes among young people\n to build life skills that enable them to cope with life stresses<\/li><li>Early identification, management and\n follow-up of people at risk of class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Times Higher Education has ranked\n 1,300 universities from 92 countries.<\/li><li>The University of Oxford retained the top\n position for the consecutive fourth year.<\/li><li>Times has also included 56 Indian institutions\n into the table this year, making India the fifth most-represented country\n in the list and the third in Asia (behind Japan and China).<\/li><li>The Indian Institute of Science(IISc)\n Bangalore topped the Indian universities on the list.However,its ranking fell\n from the 251-300 group in 2019 to the 301-350 bracket in exchange\n reserves (more than $400 billion) are significantly lower than the\n country\u2019s total external liabilities ($1 trillion) and even lower than\n total external debt ($500
