was launched in 2012.It is not a treaty or a\n law.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>It aims to include strengthening India\u2019s\n defence industrial base, exploring new areas of technological development\n and expanding U.S.-India business ties.<\/li><li>The initiative is led by Undersecretary of\n Defence for Acquisition and Sustainment from the United States and\n Secretary for Defence Protection from India.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What are its aims?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Transform the bilateral defense\n relationship into one that is limited only by independent strategic\n decisions rather than bureaucratic obstacles or inefficient procedures.<\/li><li>Strengthen India\u2019s defense industrial base\n by moving away from the traditional buyer-seller dynamic toward a more\n collaborative approach.<\/li><li>Explore new areas of technological\n collaboration from science and technology cooperation through\n co-development and have confirmed anthrax\nas the cause of death of two Asiatic water buffaloes in central Assam\u2019s\nPobitora Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Anthrax:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Anthrax is an infectious disease caused by\n the bacterium Bacillus anthracis.<\/li><li>The bacteria live in soil and usually\n infects wild and domestic animals such as goats,cattle and sheep.<\/li><li>However,humans,pigs and dogs are\n comparatively less susceptible and only get infected if exposed to copious\n amounts of spores.<\/li><li>Anthrax responds well to antibiotic\n treatment but vaccines are necessary as the infection can cause death\n within two-three days leaving no scope for diagnosis and treatment.<\/li><li>Anthrax does not spread directly from one\n infected animal or person to another as it spread by spores.These spores\n can be transported by clothing or shoes.<\/li><li>In 2001,these spores were used as agents\n of bio-terrorism when letters containing anthrax spores were sent to some\n people in America leading to widespread Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in\n the floodplains of River Brahmaputra in the district of Morigaon and about\n 45 kms from Guwahati,the capital of Assam,India.<\/li><li>It harbors the highest density of Rhino in\n the world and the second highest concentration of Rhino in Assam after\n Kaziranga National Park.<\/li><li>Besides rhinoceros, the other mammals\n found are Leopard, Leopard cat, criminal code of India.It is a comprehensive code intended to\n cover all substantive aspects of criminal law.<\/li><li>The code was drafted in 1860 on the\n recommendations of first law commission of India established in 1834 under\n the Charter Act of 1833 under the Chairmanship of Lord Macaulay.&nbsp;<\/li><li>The Code was passed into law in 1860.The\n Code came into operation in 1862.<\/li><li>The Code has since been amended several\n times and is now supplemented by other criminal provisions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why reforms are\nneeded in IPC?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The revamping of the code introduced by\n the British in 1860 is necessary as it is primarily based on the spirit of\n master and servant.<\/li><li>The complete overhaul is needed as IPC has\n never been amended in totality after it has been framed.Only some\n additions and deletions have been made..<\/li><li>There is uneven punishment for crimes of\n grievous nature.For example snatching of chains or bags on road.It could\n be life-threatening in some cases but the punishment is not commensurate\n with the gravity of the Force(FATF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why was Sri Lanka\nremoved?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sri Lanka was removed following the\n measures taken by the country on financial security<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When was Sri Lanka\nadded?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Sri Lanka was first included in the FATF\u2019s\n blacklist in 2011 and by 2012 it was listed in the list as a dangerous\n country with no commitment to financial security plan.<\/li><li>In 2016, FATF had subjected Sri Lanka to a\n review for assessing the progress of Anti-Money Laundering and Countering\n the Financing of Terrorism(AML\/CFT) effectiveness in country.<\/li><li>Sri Lanka was declared a cooperating state\n in 2016 policy-making body which works to\n generate the necessary political will to bring about national legislative\n and regulatory reforms in various areas.<\/li><li>The FATF Secretariat is housed at the of Rohingyas have fled to\n neighbouring countries like Bangladesh and India after facing religious\n and ethnical persecution in Myanmar.&nbsp; This has led to a historic\n migration crisis and a large humanitarian crisis.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Bhashan Char\nIsland:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The Bhashan Char is an uninhabited island around 30 kilometre east of Hatiya island in the South East Bangladesh.\u00a0<\/li><li>Bhashan Char island was formed about two decades ago on the mouth of river Meghna.<\/li><li>The Island falls in an ecologically fragile area prone to floods, erosion and cyclone.<\/li><li>However,the Bangladesh government has built a three metre high embankment along its perimeter to keep out tidal surges during
