Milk Banks in India consists\nof:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre<\/strong>:It\nis established for the purpose of collecting, screening, processing, storing\nand distributing donor human milk at Government Medical Colleges or District\nHospitals with high delivery load and availability of newborn treatment units.<\/li><li><strong>Lactation Management Unit<\/strong>:It has a collection\nand storage facility of mother\u2019s own milk in District Hospital\/Sub-district\nHospital with at least 12 beds.<\/li><li><strong>Lactation Support Units<\/strong>:These are established\nat all delivery points to provide breastfeeding support, lactation counselling\nand Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) support to mothers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Importance\nof Breastfeeding:<\/strong>Breastfeeding is important because <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>It prevents infections like\ndiarrhoea Sustainable development cell\naims to promote environmentally sustainable coal mining in the country and\naddress environmental concerns during the decommissioning or closure of mines.<\/li><li>The cell will advise and monitor\nthe mitigation measures taken by the coal companies for maximising the\nutilisation of available resources in a sustainable way.<\/li><li>It also aims to minimise the\nadverse impact of mining and mitigating it for further&nbsp; ecosystem services and will act as nodal\npoint at Ministry of Coal level in this matter. <\/li><li>Thus,the Cell envisages to address\nthe environment mitigation measures in a systematic manner and to provide a\nbetter environment to people working and residing in the vicinity of drinking water\nsupply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key\nHighlights from the data:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Around three lakh rural\nhabitations across the country continue to be deprived of the government\u2019s\nminimum prescribed provision of 40 litres per capita per day (lpcd) of potable\ndrinking water with assured quality.<\/li><li>Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam top\nthe list where the coverage is facing quality issues or seeing diminished\nsupply.<\/li><li>The coverage was monitored in\nterms of habitations having provision of a minimum 40 lpcd with sources at a\nreasonable distance.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional\ninformation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About\nNational Rural Drinking Water Programme(NRDWP):<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The National Rural Drinking Water\nProgramme(NRDWP) is a Centrally Sponsored scheme launched in 2009.<\/li><li>It aims to provide every rural\nperson with adequate safe water for drinking, cooking and other domestic basic\nneeds on a sustainable basis which is to be readily and conveniently accessible\nat all times and in all situations.<\/li><li>This initiative is in line with\nUnited Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Target 6 which says that \u2018By\n2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking\nwater for all\u2019.<\/li><li>The Fund-sharing pattern between\nthe Centre and the States\/UTs for the programme is (a)100% for the Union\nTerritories (b)90:10 for the Himalayan &amp; the northeastern States and\n(c)50:50 for other States.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Provision\nfor SCs and STs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The NRDWP has special provisions\nto ensure coverage of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe population with\npotable water supply. <\/li><li>22% and 10% of the funds are\nearmarked for the use in SC and ST dominated areas respectively. <\/li><li>The criteria for fund allocation\nto States under the NRDWP, the rural SC and ST population of the State has a\nweightage of 10%. <\/li><li>Thus States with higher SC and ST\npopulation get a higher allocation of NRDWP funds.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other\ninitiatives taken under NRDWP:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>National\nWater Quality Sub-Mission (NWQSM)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>National Water Quality Sub-Mission\nhad been launched in 2017 to provide safe drinking water to about 28,000\narsenic \/ fluoride affected habitations over a span of 4 years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SWAJAL:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>SWAJAL is a demand driven and\ncommunity centred program to provide sustainable access to drinking water to\npeople in rural areas.<\/li><li>It is a community demand driven,\ndecentralized programme for aspirational districts identified by NITI
