They are multipurpose protected areas where both flora and fauna are protected.<\/em>\u00a0They are <strong><em>&#8216;Science for Sustainability support sites.\u2019 &#8211; <\/em><\/strong><em>promoting <\/em><em>research in ecological conservation and environmental preservation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The concept of Biosphere Reserves was launched in 1971 as a, part of the
