{"id":67697,"date":"2020-10-29T12:22:29","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T06:52:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=67697"},"modified":"2021-01-02T13:22:30","modified_gmt":"2021-01-02T07:52:30","slug":"vulture-conservation-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/vulture-conservation-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"Vulture Conservation in India"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p><strong>News:<\/strong>\u00a0National Board for Wildlife(NBWL) has approved an Action Plan for Vulture Conservation 2020-2025.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Key Highlights of the Plan:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Vulture Conservation centre:\u00a0<\/strong>Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu will get a vulture conservation and breeding centre each.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Vulture Safe zone:\u00a0<\/strong>Establishment of at least one vulture-safe zone in each state for the conservation of the remnant populations in that state.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Rescue Centres:\u00a0<\/strong>Establishment of four rescue centres, in Pinjore (Haryana), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Guwahati (Assam) and Hyderabad (Telangana). There are currently no dedicated rescue centres for treating vultures.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Toxic Drugs:\u00a0<\/strong>A system to automatically remove a drug from veterinary use if it is found to be toxic to vultures with the help of the Drugs Controller General of India.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Vultures Census:\u00a0<\/strong>Coordinated nation-wide vulture counting involving forest departments, the Bombay Natural History Society, research institutes, nonprofits and members of the public.This would be for getting a more accurate estimate of the size of vulture populations in the country.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Database on Threats to Vulture:\u00a0<\/strong>A database on emerging threats to vulture conservation including collision and electrocution, unintentional poisoning.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Vultures in India:\u00a0<\/strong>Out of 23 species of vultures in the world, nine are found in India.
