{"id":67824,"date":"2020-10-29T17:53:24","date_gmt":"2020-10-29T12:23:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=67824"},"modified":"2021-03-04T17:26:46","modified_gmt":"2021-03-04T11:56:46","slug":"nationally-determined-contributions-ndc-transport-initiative-for-asiatia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/nationally-determined-contributions-ndc-transport-initiative-for-asiatia\/","title":{"rendered":"Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)\u2013Transport Initiative for Asia(TIA)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Nationally Determined Contributions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>News:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0NITI Aayog will virtually launch the India Component of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)\u2013Transport Initiative for Asia (TIA).<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Facts:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>NDC Transport Initiative for Asia (NDC-TIA):<\/em><\/strong> The initiative aims to promote a comprehensive approach to decarbonize transport in India, Vietnam, and China over the period 2020-24.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Supported by:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0It is supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Ministry for the Environment and Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU).<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Implementation<\/em><\/strong>:\u00a0It is implemented by seven\u00a0organizations\u00a0namely: Deutsche Gesellschaft\u00a0f\u00fcr\u00a0Internationale\u00a0Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), World Resources Institute (WRI), International Transport Forum (ITF), Agora\u00a0Verkehrswende\u00a0(AGORA), Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) and Foundation and Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21).<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Indian Component<\/em><\/strong>: The India Component is implemented by six consortium organizations all except SLoCaT. On behalf of the Government of India, NITI Aayog will be the implementing partner.<br \/>\n<table width=\"100%\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong><em>Additional Facts:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC<\/em><\/strong>):\u00a0The Paris Agreement (2015) requires all Parties to put forward their best efforts to address climate change through INDC\u2019s and to strengthen these efforts in the years ahead.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>India\u2019s intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs) under Paris Agreement:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Reduce the emissions intensity of its GDP by 33% to 35% by 2030 from 2005 level,<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Increase total cumulative electricity generation from fossil free energy sources to 40% by 2030,<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Create an additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tons through additional forest and tree cover.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>NDC-TIA India Component will focus on establishing a multi-stakeholder dialogue platform for decarbonizing transport in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nationally Determined Contributions News:\u00a0NITI Aayog will virtually launch the India Component of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC)\u2013Transport Initiative for Asia (TIA).
