{"id":68639,"date":"2020-11-03T19:04:17","date_gmt":"2020-11-03T13:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=68639"},"modified":"2020-12-30T11:21:29","modified_gmt":"2020-12-30T05:51:29","slug":"unesco-includes-panna-in-the-world-network-of-biosphere-reserves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/unesco-includes-panna-in-the-world-network-of-biosphere-reserves\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00a0UNESCO includes Panna in the \u201cWorld Network of Biosphere Reserves\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:<\/strong> UNESCO\u2019s Man and the Biosphere(MAB) program has included the Panna Biosphere Reserve to UNESCO\u2019s World Network of Biosphere Reserves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Panna Biosphere Reserve: <\/strong>It is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation: <\/strong>Panna is characterized by forests and marshy vegetation, with an abundance of rare medicinal plants as well as other non-timber forestry products such as Kattha, gum, and resins.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Significance: <\/strong>It is a critical tiger habitat area and hosts the Panna Tiger Reserve, as well as the World Heritage site of the Khajuraho Group of Monuments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MAB program: <\/strong>It is an intergovernmental scientific program launched in 1971 by UNESCO to establish a scientific basis for enhancing the relationship between people and their environments.\n<ul>\n<li>Under the program, UNESCO has established the World Network of Biosphere Reserves(WNBR). Biosphere reserves are nominated by national governments. If selected by UNESCO, they are included in the WNBR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>There are 12 biosphere reserves of India which have been recognized internationally under the Man and Biosphere(MAB) Reserve program. These are: <strong>1) <\/strong>Nilgiri(First one to be included) <strong>2) <\/strong>Gulf of Mannar <strong>3) <\/strong>Sunderban <strong>4) <\/strong>Nanda Devi <strong>5) <\/strong>Nokrek <strong>6) <\/strong>Pachmarhi <strong>7) <\/strong>Similipal <strong>8) <\/strong>Achanakmar &#8211; Amarkantak <strong>9) <\/strong>Great Nicobar <strong>10) <\/strong>Agasthyamala <strong>11) <\/strong>Khangchendzonga (2018) and <strong>12) <\/strong>Panna(2020).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>News: UNESCO\u2019s Man and the Biosphere(MAB) program has included the Panna Biosphere Reserve to UNESCO\u2019s World Network of Biosphere Reserves.
