{"id":70180,"date":"2020-04-20T14:58:52","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T09:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.forumias.com\/?p=70180"},"modified":"2021-02-05T12:34:07","modified_gmt":"2021-02-05T07:04:07","slug":"amendments-to-eia-notification-2006","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forumias.com\/blog\/amendments-to-eia-notification-2006\/","title":{"rendered":"Amendments to EIA NOTIFICATION, 2006"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>News:\u00a0<\/strong>Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has made an amendment to EIA Notification 2006 to fasten availability\/production of various drugs against COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All projects or activities in respect of bulk drugs and intermediates, manufactured for addressing various ailments, have been re-categorized from the existing Category \u2018A\u2019 to \u2018B2\u2019 category.<\/li>\n<li>Projects falling under Category B2 are exempted from the requirement of collection of Baseline data, EIA Studies, and public consultation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Additional Facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Environment Impact Assessment (EIA)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EIA is a process that studies all aspects of the environment and seeks to anticipate the impact (positive and\/or negative) of a proposed project or development on the environment.<\/li>\n<li>EIA is mandatory under the Environmental (Protection) Act, 1986 for 29 categories of developmental activities involving investments of Rs. 50 crores and above.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Industrial Categorization:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score of 60 and above \u2013 Red category<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score of 41 to 59 \u2013 Orange category<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score of 21 to 40 \u2013 Green category<\/li>\n<li>Industrial Sectors having Pollution Index score incl.&amp; upto 20 \u2013 White category<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> The Pollution Index PI is a number from 0 to 100. Higher value of PI denotes the high degree of pollution load from the industrial sector.
